Try to connect a USB-Midi Audio-Interface to your computer. Then connect MIDI-Out from the interface -> to MIDI-In from the Digitone. In the MIDI Preferences choose the In/Out from the Audio-Interface. Load the sysex file into C6 and press send. Worked for me.
SysEx Librarian did it for me for now.
Super slow transfer for a 1.1mb file, bout 15minutes, but it got it in there and updated.
Hopefully Elektron updates their transfer app moving forward!
any recommends on one for cheap-ish? is a USB-Midi Audio-Interface required to operate the Digitone?
No you don’t need it to operate the Digitone but currently you need a MIDI sending capable unit to transfer the sysex files. Checkout the stuff from Focusrite f.e. the Scarlett 2i4.

Would a $30 Behringer USB-Midi interface box get the job done? Should I wait for a solution to be provided by Elektron?
Make sure you have the USB cable only plugged in
use sysex librarian
hold down FUNC on power up
OS upgrade
select digitone out1
press play button
will take a bit but works
