hi, welcome to the forum.
please use the forum search function, as there are already many different topics about this!
here are some hints:
since you are using a daw, you have many routing options for audio and midi.
if you use overbridge, you could record all audio channels to your daw via usb for example…
routing keystep midi to dn or dt or to both at different channels is also no problem.
so make some kind of concept in your head first and then feel free to come back with more specific questions…
do you want to use the setup always with the computer/daw or should it also work standalone, without computer?
Please excuse me jumping on board this topic. I have the exact same question, however I’m complicating it slightly as I would like to also loop the DT midi back into itself to use the lfo’s.
So I’m using the in and out DT ports for the loop back, is there still a way to send program change and clock from one machine to the other while playing the DN with the Keystep?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Just to add I’ve got this set up through ableton but am aiming to bypass the daw…
no, not if you use it standalone… unless you use external midi splitter or merger (because pc and clock only comes out of midi out)
suggestion: you could use the lfos from the dn (as it has 4 midi tracks) to modulate dt - you would have to build a midi chain, where dn midi out signal reaches dt midi in port
please use the forum search, as there are plenty of topics about dn, dt and keystep midi setup and feel free to come back with specific questions
Thats a great idea! Much appreciated. Will have a proper search.
