Using the Digitone like a SEM synth, one different oscillator per note?

Hi Elektronauts! (It’s my first post on the forum, yeah!)

I recently played with a SEM synth emulation in my DAW. You can play it the way that, each note you play, a different voice is selected to produce the sound. For example, if I play 4 times the same note, it makes four different sounds with the same root note. That makes complex and unexpected sounds that I’d like to try with my Digitone!

My question is the following: Is there a way or a workaround to do something similar on the Digitone?
Each note played via midi would use one of the 4 different track on the machine, in a 1-2-3-4 order or randomly.

If it doesn’t exist, that would be a great functionality I think!

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Ferns.

You can do this with a Retrokits RK002 cable using MIDI loopback.

Or if you’ve got an iOS device hooked up, you can use Polythemus as an AU MIDI effect (in a compatible host like AUM) for rotating voice allocation.

Look up “Multi Map” in the Digitone Manual. I’m not sure it will do exactly what you are looking for, but there are a lot of options available.

I will definitely check these three options.
