Waldorf Blofeld via MIDI USB

Hi, I would like to avoid buying MIDI splitter so I’m wondering is it possibile to control Waldorf Blofeld via MIDI USB directly from Digitakt? What cable would be appropriate? Would control another synth via 5 pin MIDI out be still possibile then?

No, the USB ports on both Digitakt and Blofeld have to be connected to a host (computer or USB-MIDI Hub), which would be more expensive than a midi Thru box/splitter. But if you had such a usb-device (iconnectivity mio/mrcc/retrokits RK-006) you could indeed use the Digitakt’s DIN Midi Out in parallel.

While it’s true that the Elektron Digitakt, etc. and the Waldorf Blofeld are not USB MIDI hosts at least they can communicate with each other via DIN MIDI.

And since you want to connect at least one more DIN MIDI device, something like a reasonably priced MIDI Solutions Quadra Thru makes a lot of sense.
