Why has no one built the perfect sampler yet?

Part of the draw to the Microsampler was its small keyboard.

There are already a million options out there for those who want to be Rachmaninoff.

just watching circuitghost and nick talk about the hype synth is enough to make me get a 3rd booster shot of the vaccine lol (no offense fellas)
with the synths that circuitghost has I would taser anyone that came near me with the hype synth… arrrrrghh I’m so freakin biased

The Akai MPC key is not interesting. Same would be something for a NI Komplete +.

Another thing I like to see on a sampler, instead of a crossfader is a jog shuttle controller. To me this would be very welcome on the way I work.

they’ll have a jogwheel anyway though

I mean it in a way of tactile sample editing with precision or imagine live looping with on the fly edits.

Something like this, but then designed pure for audio/sample editing use.

hmmm, intriguing to say the least

Hmm, my friend is a camera opetator, specifically he does the slowdowns for sports, including Olympics, everything live. He uses a controller like that, it’s basically like sampling but with video.

This is incredibly useful on Polyend Tracker, as it’s so easy to edit a sample/parameter. Only thing is it’s not very well designed on Tracker so it’s likely to break after a while. That example looks sturdy tho!

I remember setting loop points with the dial on a mc-909…

Honestly I think elektron is almost there. I’ll take the AR and bump up the sample voice count to 32. Provide mono, stereo and poly options. Beef up the ram to 2g and onboard storage to 32g. Then import the chopping and time stretch capabilities of the OT, bingo you have a certified beast.

The EPS16+ still intrigues me to this day. Am i crazy?

nah ensoniq is an outlier, otoh I wouldn’t take an fantom for free

Anybody using a Fairlight early to mid 80s is a good start. Jon Hassell’s Aka Darbari Java is mostly Fairlight and processed trumpet, highly influential album, very early loop sampling.

Countdown to MaschineKeys++

Because no one has built the perfect sequencer nor synth yet

From the Elektron principle. We have the Digitone Keys that has two DSP’s instead of one like on the Digitakt. So instead of a FM based synth what about a 8 voice polyphony sampling engine. With 4 tracks (4 part multitimbral) plus 4 midi tracks. So basicly the Digitone Keys form factor and because of the poly sampler nature, let’s name this the ‘Digitron’ as reference to the ancient ‘Mellotron’.

There could also be more Elektron incarnations of digital Korg synths.
Or could we expect a Korg sampler in the Modwave/Opsix/Wavestate form factor?

The more I look at Roland’s Zenology the more it reminds me of Elektron’s survey they did a while ago.

Let’s hope that Elektron also come with some kind of plug-out technology (Overbridge X) into the hardware synth/fx/sampling realm.

One of my earliest feature requests was for the OT crossfader to be used in AED for setting start/end points, with zoom to set resolution right down to individual sample. I think a horizontal slider makes a very nice visual way of moving horizontal parameters.

Would be like the Akai S612 way.

The OT scene button ‘A’ start and ‘B’ end.

Considering the general state of audio piracy (and audio piracy counter-measures), I’d really rather them not do the plug-ins to then plug-out
