yesterday I’ve did first production track and it raised couple of question
My setup was like this (A4) :
One track in Live using OB plugin, recording 4 A4 tracks used as a unison.
Then I was thinking, let’s do some bass and drums … I thought I’d keep what I’ve did, incl. setup and automations and just disable the Live track and create new one, resample, disable track, keep the setup if I need to go back and keep going this way to create and resample as many tracks I need… But it doesn’t seem like you can run multiple instances of OB within the session, they simply don’t connect to synth.
Any ideas?
Also, can I decide which synth track I’m using? Plugin seems to always target track 1
OK, I think I understand what you mean here. You can only have one instance of the Overbridge plugin per machine. That machine however includes as many audio tracks as you have selected to go out from the Overbridge standalone app that needs to be launched before Live.
So in the case of the A4 lets say you want the 4 synth tracks to be individual outputs in Live. Make sure you have that set up in the standalone app (not the main outs, but outputs of the 4 synths). Launch Live, drop an instance of the Overbridge plugin onto a MIDI track. Then create 4 new audio tracks. Make sure that the INPUT of these audio tracks corresponds to Analog 4 tracks 1-4. That should give you the individual audio outputs you’re looking for.
That will handle at least the audio side. About MIDI though, I’m not quite sure! Does anyone know if the tracks in the A4 are on different MIDI channels? That way you could easily create 4 new MIDI tracks, have them send to the A4 on different channels for each track…
thanks! I’m already there, but now I want to use it for real production… not just one sound at the time or preprogrammed sequences in the hardware
I want to sequence all 4 tracks from Ableton. I found out that I can create 4 additional MIDI tracks and sequence it from there.
But I couldn’t figure out how to deal with automation, it can receive and record automation, but I don’t know how to send it back.
My issue is, I want to use more than 4 sounds in my Ableton session in non-destructive manner and I have no idea how to do that… To make it clear – on A4, I’d do two patterns and I can assign different sound/kit, but how can I achieve the same thing in Live? Perhaps someone else could refer?
