It would be really nice it the A4/AK could send basic program changes (in the DT/DN sense of the term). Doesn’t have to be anything fancy or parameter-lockable. Ideally each pattern would send one configurable PC message. Now that the A4/AK sends midi I use it to sequence external gear pretty regularly. Works well enough but changing presets manually across multiple devices can be tedious. With an AK, AR and some desktop synths, adding another Elektron machine for this seems like overkill when I am otherwise happy with my set up. Worth noting that since the AK has an external midi mode it would be particularly well suited for this feature.
Hold function for bank select: I want the 16 patterns selectors to stay in place permanently while I play the keyboard, , so I can switch them constantly with one button press. As it is, the bank deselects after a pattern selection.
Right, I think i could have been clearer by avoiding the word “linked”. I would like the PC per pattern to be adjustable. If pattern A1 is linked to certain patches on my desktop units, I would run into the problem of having to use the same patches across multiple projects. Unless I am misunderstanding something which is of course always a possibility.
No, you understand the situation perfectly. You could match patches to patterns, or use an intermediate device to transform the PC messages to values required for each of the downstream instruments.
An “int to main” toggle like on the Digitakt and Digitone that mutes the synth and fx tracks on the main outs, but still sends them over USB. There currently is no way to use the A4 as the audio interface without getting a feedback loop between the A4 -> DAW -> back to A4. My workaround for this is to use the Analog Heat (or Digitakt or Digitone) as an interface instead, and connect the A4’s outs to the Heat’s ins. It would be awesome to be able to use the A4 standalone, while recording into a DAW with mastering plugins, without getting feedback.
this was the first thing i missed when i used my a4 for the first time, my first approximation was a digitakt, i would love for this to happen, it would also be a great addition a more detailed page parameter for overdrive control i am not sure but i think that the parameter works as a macro control of the effect, I love it, but the curiosity of being able to use it in detail calls me (overdrive on fx page + modulation, or a second page on filter page). the same thing happens to me with the sub oscillator, at least one volume control and its respective modulation in lfo-enevelope, would be intersting … and arp whit parameter locks .
I’d really love a volume control for the sub, too. Not the most elegant soltution, but maybe FUNC+sub snaps to the next or previous sub type, but turning it normally behaves like the B-operator ratio encoder on the DN: turning it clockwise changes the level from 0 to 127 on the -1 oct waveform, turning it further changes the level again, but this time on the -2 oct waveform, then again 0 to 127 on the pulse waveform and finally the same on the 5th.
An under-the-hood page for the overdrive also sounds pretty awesome
wow, I did not know that mechanism of the Digitone! I like how it sounds, it would be very practical and simple to use, and interesting to modulate a sweep.
The DN manual describes it like the hands of a clock: B1’s (I think) ratio is the hour hand, B2’s ratio is the minute hand, and every time you go from 1 to 16 on B2’s ratio, it goes from 1 to 2 on B1’s ratio (well, from 0.25 to 0.5 to 0.75 to 1, to 16). I imagined the minute hand could be sub oscillator level, while the hour hand could be sub oscillator waveform.
Also, another request: Make mute mode more like on the Digitakt
Being able to mute tracks by pressing trigs 1-6 when in performance mode is amazing. It would also be amazing if you could do this outside of the performance page.
