show which keyboard notes are being played on the current track without having to hold down a trig.
just got an A4 and really love the sound!
What I miss is a retrigger function similar as in the Digitakt.
There is a toggle named “OSCILLATOR DRIFT” in the sound settings menu which does exactly this.
It maybe has been mentioned a long time ago, but still… an option to dim the lights similar to DT would be a major usability improvement. Especially with the black A4mk2 in darker environments everything is very bright which decreases legibility significantly.
MIDI cc’s assingn on perf. Macros.
Dedicated button for adding ties in step record mode
Multi Map improvements:
-
Ability to record MM sound locks into Live Record and Step Record modes (I guess it would have to work only on sound locks for the current track and ignore MM keys that fire patterns, sounds on other tracks, etc)
-
Ability to create the MM zones by holding the desired key or keyspan (low and high key) so we don’t have to manually dial them in. Currently this is pretty tedious to do.
MM as a lfo destination, would be nice to. Or a third lfo jejeje
I think it has been suggested, but being able to p-lock the transpose (a la OP-Z) would be really handy.
Saving plock sounds as presets or sounds from pool.
Two features I’d really like to see:
- Ability to change default encoder behavior.
Meaning that shift + turn functions like push + turn and the other way around. This would help a lot with the longevity of mk1 units I think.
- Not having to hold down notes when entering chords.
It should be enough to hold down the step instead…then enter each note one after the other. If you enter more than 4 notes, the first note gets replaced…then the second…and so on. (Like on the OP-Z)
Something i have been pondering is that the FX track seems to have an arpeggiator, but i can’t get it to send the arpeggiated notes to external gear… and as far as i know the FX track in itself cant use the arp for anything. My request would be either have the FX track send the arp out, or remove it to make the UI consistent…
Edit: obviouly, if someone has found a fantastic use for the FX track arp i would love to hear them
(i guess the CV track will have more use for the arp, haven’t used it though)
You can send arpeggiated notes on the FX track out as CV/gate.
Thats interesting, and never thought of it
I have an a4 + moog subh + moog dfam.
Do I underestand right I have 2 arps on my CV?
One on the Fx track, the other on the CV track?
That is correct. (Edit: you can send out CV, including arp, from any track, but with these two tracks, you don’t sacrifice a voice.)
so then it is a cv voice, but you can still use the fx (?)
and ‘only’ 4 cv out? or can the individual outputs also be used as extra cv out?
You can still use the FX, but if you want to p-lock them, you have to fit the trigs in between the CV trigs. I have a mk1 so no individual outputs, but I sincerely doubt they can be used for CV. If you want more CV from the A4, get a MIDI-to-CV converter like CV.OCD.
tnx
apparently it can be used as a 2nd cv arp (as mentioned above). i think that’s it, really. i don’t use any cv gear though
so unless keytrack becomes a mod source (big wish!) or arps can send their notes via midi (also big wish!)… i’ve yet to find a use for the fx arp.
Had to narrow down my gear to one device while I’m traveling so I went with the A4.
Owned it for 5 years now, but this has really forced me to learn it more deeply.
2 things are really standing out to me.
First, why is the whole sound browser/manager/pool so clunky.
Find it very difficult to get from sound design, to adding sounds to the pool, to plugging in those sounds on steps as needed. Way too much work! There must be a way to streamline this.
Perhaps a key combo to add current sound to pool no matter where I’m at?
Also, is there any other Elektron device where you can only Plock some, but not all parameters?
Pretty sure on Machinedrum and Digitone you can.
On the A4 you can’t Plock any of the Arp parameters except 1st, 2nd and third notes.
how amazing to be able to Plock the arp on and off? Or Plock the arp type. Changing from Shuffle to Up would be epic. I can fake a ratchet sound with the delay. But it’s not the same.
Also the performance mix page.
Why can we not Plock the levels in the mix here? There are workarounds to be sure, but it would be easier to automate the global FX level here.
