AR Analog Rytm feature request thread

Not specifically Rytm, but it would be really nice to have parameter locks visually represented on the screen, as in digital knobs moving along with the changing parameters. I find that, after locking for a while, I’ll find something interesting and need to dial back a few previous locks to showcase the new texture or movement, but can’t easily tell which combination of locks is causing what effect without any visual representation.

would also appreciate a visualization screen for p locks that appears when applying, disables when releasing that step.

i hope the AR gets a next level update with a lot of engines, classics, improved graphics and menus, visualization using the multicolor leds, intuitive controls and all the necessary things the Digitakt covers since it’s recent update

Agreed - so I just sample the retriggering (w/ aftertouch modulations!) that I played live and then sequence the sample it into the pattern. You get much more dynamic retriggered snare rolls this way.

I like doing this also but when resampling for sound design it becomes a pain to name all of the samples/throw away previous iterations and experiments. Then again, as I type this I feel like I remember there being a type of ‘session’ folder right? Is it true that the “incoming” folder only contains things that you’ve recorded during the current power cycle or am I misremembering this? lol

Only a recording buffer as far as I know. You don’t name what’s in the buffer until you save it and then assign it to a pad. I’m not sure how it works with a power cycle, but I always save my kits and project before I shut down and I’ve never had a problem with loosing work.

I don’t worry too much about losing the samples. It’s getting rid of unwanted samples that feels tedious. Like if I resample 4 or 5 times I’d rather not have to go into the folders and listen to/delete each version that I don’t like. But I have to do that or I’ll end up filling up the +drive and then eventually going through all of my samples at once when I back them up. It wouldn’t be too much of a problem if I named them, but naming them is also pretty tedious. I’m generally kind of impatient though lol

Is this the longest Elektron has been radio silent about any updates or news? I’ve descended to the realm of checking elektronauts for update news every morning before getting out of bed lol.

Same lmao…

it just means the update is gonna be the biggest update for the Analogs ever …followed by the announcement of the Syntakt. Trust me.

I’m unsure if this is possible but, it would be great to have smooth transitions between filter types.
I often program a high-pass sweep on a performance pad on sounds which are programed with low pass filters. When slow movements happen, the filter changes can be very jerky and unmusical. Haveing the ability to fade between shapes would open up entirely new sounds as well.
Again, not sure if this is possible with the hardware but worth an ask.
Cheers.

Each voice would need a mixer to mix between the different filter circuits and then basically crossfade between them. Don’t think they built that into the AR…

I usually try to press the pad a little harder initially and then try to smoothly press further, seems to hide the swithing a bit. Also switching all filters to highpass seems to work much better then switching just one or two of several low pass filters.

You can also midi control performance macros, which might help with more precise control and thus avoiding audible side effects.

I’ve got a feeling that the AR / A4 are next in line for a patch!!

Wish list

  1. Additional fx for samples. Eq, am, srr. Smpl+fx to access
  2. Load samples from plus drive into trim screen. Add to action menu
  3. Shortcut to samples menu. Smpl+settings to access
  4. Digital oscillator machines (live in src and disable smpl and the analog circuit) with multiple optional tones (4?), detune and pwm. Large pitch range in semitones. Available on any track
  5. Additional lfo for tracks and fx. Double tap lfo to access
  6. Scale modes for chromatic mode. Add to track settings menu

Quantized Retrigger was shown as a feature in the original user manual for the MKI. It was never implemented and was later removed from the manual. I’d love to have this feature implemented.

it would be really interesting to know how much processing power headroom the RYTM has as of now. just to be able to estimate what could be possible and what not

a workaround for headroom could be options shutting down other options when selected

I like the idea of loading stuff into the trim screen from the +drive, but it would be even better if the trim screen was added as a secondary screen on the sample page, so we can finetune start and end point with a zoom function.

Plus 1 for that second LFO. Thanks!

I hope someone else come with a sick drum machine with nice analog engine and a decent screen.
When i look at something like the squarp Hapax they seems to get it right. I wish the screen was colored tho. You can add greatness with colors and it’s pretty simple to get decent oled things going on look at the Akai force or push 2…

They really have to work on the analog engine and give more digital filters down the line. Same for FX i’m not sure what is restraining them because we have really powerfull cpu with snapdragon or other even more mobile cpu around.

Also the velocity sensitive pads should be on the bottom like on the tempest and just be a tad smaller to accomodate the two row of 8. I’m not sure why they can’t get velocity right when most major brands manage to get decent pads…

It’s certainly strange since the pads are clearly very sensitive to the slightest touch when in muting mode. People have been complaining about the lack of velocity sensitivity for years now and it’s about time Elektron got around to sorting it. There is certainly room for some more effects too, a decent flanger/comb filter would be nice, maybe a spatial widening algo’ and the option to add digital filters would be welcomed, I’m sure. I’d like to have choke pairs not choke each other in situations when only samples are being used on those pads + sample stacking and the ability to sample in stereo, it must be doable.
