Best synth for dub chords (dub techno)

Man any polyphonic synth will do that. It’s not the synth that will make you go dub

I am very aware of the idea that “any polyphonic synth will do.” If you want you can check out my releases, which are all variants and expressions of the dub aesthetic in house and techno.

But the Syntakt is not polyphonic. It only has that chord machine. I have no way to demo the box and decide for myself if that chord machine will give me the kind of flexibility I’m used to when it comes to crafting dub chords (for reference, Opsix, MegaFM, Nymphes, V-Synth, 106, PPG VST, Massive X VST). I absolute prefer FM and Wavetable for my tastes, most of the time. Classic Roland sound being an exception.

No. Not compared with the synths in your list. It’s got a bunch of wave shapes, 20-odd fixed chords (and inversions), modest modulation, pre-filter overdrive, two filters and amp.

It’s handy, quirky, fun. It’s more flexible than it seems at first, but it’s not an FM synth.
