Chase Bliss Audio MOOD

B-stock GenLoss mk2 is 375€
CXM1978 is still 855€, which fortunately is way out of my league.

Mood mk1 is 245€.

Some weeks into the MoodMKII now, this isn’t as obvious an upgrade as I thought in the first honeymoon days. Compared to say the GenLossMKII, which was just crying for something new and for many different reasons, I don’t feel the MoodMKII, with its stereo magic and all, necessarily is what you need, if you’re into the MKI or just curious to get in(to) the mood.

This comes to mind now that I’m digging through older material and preparing for a live set. I’ve used the Mood since its original launch and pre-MKII recorded material, it’s by no means worse than what comes out of the MKII. Whenever I wanted to stereo them up, I always ran the Mood through a CXM or similar anyway.

The MoodMKII also shows that Chase Bliss has outgrown its format. The hidden features and alternative pathways, it’s all cleverly done considering the context, but it’s still a box that just doesn’t benefit from residing inside a guitar pedal interface.

So I don’t know. It’s a great pedal and very promising for the Chase Bliss future, but once the stereo wow has faded, I’m not sure it’s an essential upgrade. It’s an amazing product, but it’s not as essential an MKII as I’d say the GenLoss is.

As a mkI owner sticking to my savings targets for other gear, this is a welcome perspective.

But you’re not helping my GAS for the final 100 limited colourway.

As a first time Mood User, Im having a hard time fitting this into my workflow. I know it’s deep and that it takes a lot of time to explore it. But everything I do with it sounds very samey.

It doesn’t feel like it’s something I “need” in my set up tbh.
Basically every CB pedal I’ve owned has made me feel like this(blooper, Gen loss2 mood mkii) with the exception of CXM 1978.

I’m gonna stick with it, but I have a looming sense that Chase Bliss just isn’t for me…

We are having a crazy MOOD MKI clearance sale (both .com and .eu) . 30% off while they last with coupon code MOOD30 . These pedals are not B Stock. Just normal MOOD MKI pedals at a once-in-a-lifetime price.

EDIT sorry, just seen @LyingDalai posted this above :grinning:

No way, that must be excluding VAT, on their website I see 1000+.

It’s a B-stock they’re referring to
Click the link in the post and you can switch b-stock item to a CXM

Don’t worry about it. The standard apricot model is the one you want :slightly_smiling_face:

Don’t use the onboard reverb. You’ll enter Mood Vanilla territory as soon as you do.

Go for the Tape effect in slot 2. Turn it on, off, on, off. Tweak the modifier. Don’t use the Clock knob at first.

And then we’ll talk :slightly_smiling_face:

Last time I had the Mood I came to the conclusion that I could approximate most of what I liked about the Mood with my Octatrack. Nothing has changed probably… but I still went and ordered one of those B-stock Mood mk1s. :upside_down_face:

If I really enjoy it and learn to use it with enough variation, maybe I’ll upgrade to a mk2 later.

Seems the Bstock link doesn’t work if you’re in the UK?

My go to has actually been delay on slot 1 and tape on slot 2. Setting the clock at roughly 2.

A little irk I have with tape is that you get these fragmented skipping when you turn the length knob clock wise.

Delay is super cool because you can find your selve in Steve Reich land with the correct settings.

Another finding is that unclocked > clocked. A lot more arithmetic involved when it’s not slaved.

Like stated earlier I need to explore more.
