Whoa! Glad you did it OK!
Nice “firmware” upgrade!

So far, I have found almost half the tape models sound too dark and muddy to be useful, even with the high pass. I think I’ll be keeping mine unmodified.
(I may change my mind after I try it on drums).
I’m saving for a sp1200 for the drum grit myself.
When i read all this i keep thinking about the Volca Beats snare. Everybody was complaining but Korg just did nothing.
CB responded to my inquiry on possibly covering all shipping cost on the youtube link above … they are sticking to their guns on the consumer paying for shipping and they will cover shipping back and the cost of fixing their own design … that they admit they are not sure which is the best.
Now that I know the shipping cost for the unit, I will need to make my own business decision.
Yeah, they also replied the same to me.
I already put mine up for sale, I’m confident I’ll be able to sell it for at least the same I’ve bought it for and buy the new version, it makes no sense for original owners to pay for the extra shipping cost.
Hmmm a little offtop - > wondering are there any software solutions comparable with MKII?
might want to wait a while, Im sure the first batch will become highly sought after and go for big $
Awesome, especially that you get the general BASS back.
If you prefer LoFi without Bass,
You have 12 different “EQ profiles/models”.
I am sure there must be models with less bass.
well, I invite you to check
I will be a bit careful and leave my batch 1 pedal as it is for now.
Chase Bliss didn’t mess up–there’s nothing defective about the first batch of Gen Loss mk2’s. The filter was an intentional and reasonable design decision not a defect, as was the firmware balance between latency and processing power. CB is being generous in offering to mod the original design of the pedals to suit user preferences for free. CB could be like most companies and say–that’s the design of the product as intended, but they’re taking on the labor of the modification and the return shipping–asking owners only to pay for shipping one way if they want their pedal modded.
They deserve recognition for listening to user feedback and taking on most of the cost of modifying the pedal’s original design and providing instructions for user modification with the proviso that they’ll fix your ham-handed mistakes!
A little perspective and gratitude are in order.
I don’t own the pedal so i’m not emotional about it. But i know that if i had bought the first version i’d definitely think about getting the mod a lot and would have a hard time deciding. That’s why i don’t like it when companies do different versions of the same device. I’m just bad at making decisions.
I’d hate it if they would bring out a different sounding version of my beloved MOOD pedal.
My 2c is the GII is a great pedal.
Naive but well-meant that CB decided on releasing this tweak. They could, probably should, not have bothered.
We’ve become addicted to every new firmware update and tweak on our hardware and it can impact our objectivity.
(I know I am)
CB’s decision to do this, to me, shows a real sign of caring about their users and product. No doubt they could have avoided potential negativity by saying nothing and everyone has a perfectly great GII forever, with no niggling concern that they were missing out on some extra missing piece.
You can already do this! Just tweak the knob before restart.
ok,thanks, but this is really just a workaround. I’d like a proper solution for a quick and exact restart so i don’t have to worry when recording.
I do use the knob before restart, you get used to it pretty fast.
Have you checked the midi implementation chart? I haven’t tested this but there seems to be a CC for bypass/engage. I wonder which is the CC for restart time, could it be “AUX ONSET TIME”?
I’ll check that too thank you!
(the ideal solution would have been a momentary button, with STOP effect as long as button held and quick START when released)
“Embrace the actual configuration and use the pedal for what it gives” said Lao-Tseu to one of his musician friends.
The Buddha says: Too big expectations for hardware changes are one thing, solid requests for OS updates the other.
