Chase Bliss Generation Loss MKII

Completely agree

hardware requires no processing power, that’s one advantage. But that’s probably not why they use it the way they are.

Spot the fail:

  • Puts a high pass filter on a lofi effect pedal?
  • Preorders a $500 pedal without any examples of it working for their music?

People complaining about their lo-fi pedal lacking bass is hilarious.

For anyone confused about the entitlement on display in this thread, it helps to remember it’s the internet.

They are primarily a guitar effects company which is becoming more popular with electronic musicians, we weren’t the main audience they were designed for. Actually seems like a lot of guitarist are pissed that they are removing the high pass.
As for the phasing, that’s just inherently a part of blending a modulated time based effect with the dry signal.
Glad you were able to cancel your preorder, but the fact that they are doing this mod for free to anyone who has the first batch and covering half the shipping is the exact opposite of bad service. The labor cost for a competent local tech to do the mod for you would be way more than the shipping one way. They listened to their customers and responded with a hardware revision, what more can you ask for?

A dipswitch with two different setting for the filter? Running a stereo lead synth through a mono pedal isn’t that exciting, trust me.

Yeah, completely agree when there are so many options that are cheaper and better through software.

I got the demo before it was shipped so no fail for me at least. And for everyone else who is unhappy, return it. No need to be miserable about an expensive pedal that makes you choose in-between two filter settings.

I found a nice person who sold his MK II first batch for the price he bought it for. Quite unusual, as there are lots of scalpers already here in Germany, trying to sell it at ridiculous prices. What’s even more ridiculous is that people are still trying to sell previous iterations for crazy prices, although classic mode is included in MKII and you can easily order it new. I suspect people will definitely try the same with pre-mod MK II versions.

Anyhow, I will thus get my hands on it earlier than my batch 2 unit would have arrived for no extra cost. Now I have to find out whether I will cancel my preorder or wait for the modded version to compare the two.

If you have Reaktor I’ll send you my own version of a tape effect, plus the delay version as well. Here’s a demo

I got the gen loss so I don’t need to turn on the computer and set up routing when I want that sound otb

Generation Loss as a pedal has been around for a while, maybe 6-7 years? They have been unobtanium for most of that, hence the pre-order enthusiasm

They, cba, released one demoing it with an OB~6 before preordering opened.

Is kind of ridiculous.

In the end it isn’t for everyone. But where’s the harm in having a whinge about anything, especially if you can get a pleasant surprise, and at first I thought it was pretty crap with my synths, but now I can use it on anything.
Honestly, with the HPF mod it still sounds the same on a guitar. Maybe it’s a bit darker strumming low chords but it sounds shit doing that to begin with anyway.

I like the idea behind his video but he definitely got a couple things straight up wrong about the pedal, not sure if was just his setting in chow tape but that wow and flutter sounds not great imo something overly ridged and predictable about the movement. I guess it doesn’t change that you could make some fun lofi music with it and its free.

I had one of the first batch MK II’s here in the US. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t keep it, but I wanted to try it. I sold it for what I paid for it plus shipping (it sold in less than 10 minutes on Reverb).

What serials have less low end?

I bought a Chase Bliss Brothers distortion pedal, but it’s distorting my signal. Are there any mods for this?
