I’d like to know the same, but I’ll wait until mine arrives.
I’m somewhat comfortable at soldering but I need a new soldering iron and that’s a tight space. I’ve only done mods on gameboys and for audio gear, I’ve only replaced the battery on a SP12. That thing is the opposite of compact.
Yeah, it is really tiny, nothing I want to do, but I only have very minor skills in soldering. I let you know when CB has an answer for me, but you probably will get the chance to check yourself on your new unit when it arrives.
Also, unless they plan to mod each pedal by hand going forward () I wouldn’t expect to see solder bridges on everything. Rather some surface-mountable jumper that can be placed by a machine in manufacturing… like a 0Ω resistor? If you see components on your pedal in the areas circled above, it might also be worth comparing the color/labeling of the components to that of the “before” image to see if they’ve been swapped out for a different part.
Yes @DaveMech, it would be nice to have a look at the inside and actually see if they did it and how they did it and if it looks different to the one in the mod manual.
Maybe I will make an A/B audio comparison with the pedal bypassed and turned on with the full dry signal only (unitity), to show that there is a HP on the dry signal as well and not only in default modal mode (modal all counterclockwise). I would prefer a untouched, dry signal, mixing it with modals that are more high passed, like DaveMech described earlier, is a great thing to do.
Should be as easy as a specific serial number from which they started implementing the mod. No need to open it up :). Bit odd that they didn’t communicated this.
But how have you concluded that yours is not modded? have you tried running a bass-heavy source through it and turning it on with the model knob totally counterclockwise (no model selected), to see if you hear a bass cut or not? In my original version it was immediately noticeable, even in the “Classic mode”.
Yes, I tested it first and noticed the difference immediately!
From what I wrote above, I just wanted to do a A/B comparison to share it here so everyone can hear what we are talking about. I am still waiting to receive an answer from CB, still unclear to me why mine is not modded.
Yeah, should be easy…, not sure why CB haven’t thought of this better, would have been helpful for everyone. Which serial number do you have?
Maybe someone else can share a picture of the inside, curious to see what it looks like It is very easy to open.
Some of the tape models have a very HP presence so if you keep the Dry signal to Small or None you can definitely still get those HP Lofi sounds from the demos, but now you also have the option of not losing your bass all the time.
