I loved Devil Daggers…

I feel like Hyper Demon will gouge my eyes out.
Devil Daggers is so artistically perfect by comparison.

Haha yeah I really liked devil daggers also, spent about 6 hours or so in it and got pretty far, Hyper Demon is crazy so far I think I will probably spend more time with it just because mechanically there is more happening… I also just like how insane the visuals are but somehow when you are playing everything more or less makes sense. But yeah its the type of game you boot up for 10 min or so for a break, hard to handle too much of it in a row.

I just got sucked into a fighting games hole by reinstalling Dragon Ball Fighterz in order to properly practice and play online. Proper training like 10 mins of just blocking against a pretty aggressive computer, and then 10 mins of rehearsing combos. And wow, the highs and lows of online matches are so intense, the rush you get when finally beating someone you struggled against for a while, or the existential crisis you suffer when you just get pummelled by a seemingly endless line of opponents. It’s crazy and I hadn’t felt it for a long time!

Shovel Knight Dig is an excellent game! I highly recommend it. It’s on everything, so not strictly computer. It’s rogue-lite-ish, but it feels like playing a Shovel Knight game rather than a rogue-lite with Shovel Knight graphics. They did an excellent job with it.

Anyone playing “New World?”
I’m animating for that game, would love to hear any opinions.
I’m not a huge gamer so I don’t really have a perspective.

For those who liked the first one or those who discover (and who can take the first) Shapez 2 planned. It looks well developed and superb.
Pure joy in code. The videos are very appetizing.

Here for Shapez 1…

Gameplay: 10/10
Soundtrack: 10/10
Storyline: 10/10

There is something about the fisheye lens type view and the general sense of scale and motion that is really visually intriguing but also really horrifying watching that clip. I mean that in a positive way as odd as that sounds. Its really impactful. It looks a lot like nightmares that I have had since I was a child.

Despite decades of horror and horror games I genuinely feel a weird sense of fear and boundlessness looking at that. But it also looks like an evolution of space harrier in a lot of ways. Crazy.

I should really get a new laptop or something so I can explore games like that.

Truth. Ended up getting Cuphead. Its brilliant, stupid fun.

BOTW is scheduled to sometimes in the futur for sure !

…Never thought i’d say that about Cuphead but, after beating the DLC, i’ve started a second run on expert mode.
One of the many things that makes the game so awesome is the soundtrack.

Being a tedious player and a specialist in losing to bosses because of one fatal fuck up that sinks a glorious performance on my side, i’ve often cut the music during some fights to be more focused (Knightmare King Grimm was one of them) … but not with Cuphead.

The soundtrack really keep you going at it with a smile on your face.
Cuphead is a total trip.

Spouse is looking to practice German language proficiency, are there any games with excellent voice acting / native speakers I should check out?

Fantasy/Scifi/RPG or something otherwise with a good amount of spoken roles.

Alien Isolation localized?

Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil Village are my favorite video games in the past year.

I guess I could practice expletives

True!

I was just thinking that it has ridiculous levels of production value, so the localization would be of high quality.

I was going to suggest Nintendo due to their attention to detail, but many of their games have speech like unintelligible chatter to cut down on localization

I imagine the Bethesda games would be pretty well done.

I’d go high budget. Maybe Horizon Zero Dawn, Control, etc.
