Dreadbox Typhon

That is, because this is actually “Germish”. :yum:

German would be: Modulatorinnen and Synthesizerinnen to be fully political correct. :smiling_imp:

Is the presets only for the FX or you can save the complete synth patch ?

Looking at the Powering Considerations section of the manual it suggests that USB connection to computer is probably going to be noisy. Maybe using the MIDI DIN ports and no USB to computer is a better option then?
I wonder how it will work when the editor becomes available?

Powering considerations
Even though the Typhon is an analog synthesizer, it can be powered with a simple USB cable. Giving the unit
some extra mobility, you can just use a power bank and play anywhere (with a 20.000 mAh power bank you
could power and play the unit for up to 60 hours).
Most homes nowadays have at least a dozen or so USB cables and power adapters lying around (from smartphones, computers, printers, and other devices), so we didn’t think there was a point including one with the
Typhon and adding to the environmental waste.
So, you’re thinking, “Can I use any USB power supply?”
Yes, but there are some things you need to consider. Not having a dedicated power adapter means that depending on the USB power supply quality or your connection, could result in a dirty synth or noise floor. You
can easily avoid those situations though, by following these simple rules:

  • When powering the Typhon from a computer, if you use a DAW to process the unit’s audio, a ground loop
can be created, causing a noticeable hum. In that case, you should power the Typhon from a different power
supply, and not from the same computer that you’re running the DAW on.
  • Using a very long USB cable can also cause line noise. For cleaner sounding performance it’s also better to
use a USB cable that has a ferrite bead installed.
  • Make sure your USB power adapter is rated for at least 500mA
  • Poor quality USB power adapters should be avoided.
  • And as mentioned above, when using a power bank, make sure it’s a good quality one. You can also power
a keyboard controller with the same power bank

My best educated guess, for the complete Synth Patch. See in the videos.

Synthesizer.gr have told me they will get their delivery of Typhons today ready for immediate dispatch with free international shipping (Thomann have pre-sold their entire first batch, which are also due today).

Yeah, I’ve sold a Moog Sirin too, a few bits and bobs.
I bought a Nord Drum 3P and a Lead A1R so had to get some cash together to cover it.

The seem to offer very good service there.

So it would seem. Just got a really sweet email from Dimitri at Synthesizer.Gr informing me it’s on it’s way, is a great synth and to have a great weekend.
This is on top of shipping notification.
Never had that before from any retailer.
They price match as well. Would defo be my new goto online retailer if it wasn’t for the carbon footprint.
Blessed are the Bubbles!

I’ve ordered direct from Dreadbox before and their delivery and occasional freebie policy has been great too. I’m not that far from Greece as the truck drives, so hopefully it’s not delivered by air.

Mine posted today from Synthesizer.GR in Greece to Australia. I don’t know why yet but they refunded the shipping I paid. I don’t think I should post what I paid, I feel like I robbed someone. I’ll have to message them. I bought it on Reverb by pre order… A first.

Selling my jomox tres2 if any of you aussie-nauts are interested

Synthesizer.gr are to be recommended - the Typhon just arrived and is droning away hugely - that Dreadbox filter is immense, and it’s fantastic to have patch storage and FX on board. It feels very solid, the knobs turn ultra-smoothly and the USB jack plugs in with reassuring sense that it’s not going to pop out at a moment’s notice.

Update: some of the presets on this are astonishingly good; Disco is instant Moroder.

Dreadbox and Polyend are just killing it this year.

Kudos for producing really cool under the radar yet affordable instruments you didnt know you needed  in these incertain times…

I used to own a lil Erebus, now switched to a Medusa for added sequencing and lfo fun , I can tell that Dreadbox analog synth engines sound great.

Now with onboard FX or the ability to use it as a compact FX box for…Medusa for instance  at a relatively decent price is really a great add-on in small form factor for a mobile setup or any studio…
