El Capitan-> How's the Overbridge 1.0.0.0

  • On Mac OS X, El Capitan is not yet supported! We will add support for this in Overbridge 1.10 Beta 2, due within the next 2 weeks.

Yay… when I read “Naturally, we are working on bringing out an Overbridge update with El Capitan compatibility as soon as possible.” on 30 September, I thought “meh, I’m busy the next 2-3 weeks anyways. Surely they’ll have fixed it by then!”.

Well, looks like we’ve missed the “within the next 2 weeks” time-frame.

that’s hardly a surprise is it? has elektron ever been on time with anything they announced?

and where does the above statement even come from?

What up elektron? Any news on the fix?

Nah, busy “celebrating the upcoming release of Overbridge 1.10” for almost two weeks now. Goddamnit elektron, stop announcing stuff you’re not ready to deliver.

R&D is working very hard on it.
It was a tougher nut to crack than expected…

just to manage expectations, is it going to happen very soon or is it going to take a bit longer ?

Soon. Really can’t comment on it more than that.

ok. thanks simon!

I just got an A4 to compliment my Rytm and launched everything - noticed all the problems I was having and assumed it was El Capitan. Elektron Support was quick to let me know that was the problem and that it’s addressed in the update. Thankful for that!

I wonder though if Cubase 8.5 is supported by the update that’s coming out as well?

So, are we expecting to see 1.10 update on 13th?
Can’t wait~!!

It´s december 14th and …

I´m really tired of all you marketing announcment, facebook adds, email newsletters etc. … I guess most of us already bought some of the analog line. and paid an expensive price. We gave you our money and our trust … trust in a new technologie. We paid the high price, because you are telling us with the new technologie there is no really need for soundcard … or let´s say, for a new (better) soundcard … because the soundcard is now integrated in the maschine … . Overbridge is not a free update, it´s a sales argument, it´s a feature of the maschine. And we already paid for it.

What if I wanna buy a new mac with pre installed El Capitan??

So please stop spaming with “buy new maschines for 10% off” … bring out working Overbridge AU/VST version! Let´s celebrate Overbridge 1.10 with Overbridge 1.10!

may the force be with you Elektron.

In 5 days time, I’m on a 2 week vacation/holiday from the day-job.

It would have been good if Elektron had this working so I could get properly into it.

:frowning:

So true. I must’ve received four or five emails telling me the same thing over and over. Really spammy/shitty on their part.

I mean, yeah, it sucks, but it’s kind of a perfect storm of misfortune as far as Mac audio development goes.
This is the first time in years that Apple has changed their audio spec to this degree and it happened at a time when Overbridge was fresh out of beta.

I have an A4 and just bought an AR when the sale hit and my Mac is brand new so it was pretty much El Capitan or the highway.
The only time I got to play with OB is on my work Mac and they made me update as soon as El Capitan was released so I’ve got a big slab o’ OB heartache in my throat.
This also doesn’t mention that I have next week off and wanted to crack this piece wide open.
It may happen, it may not.
Life goes on, I assure you.

They’re a small company.
They actually have an ad to hire a new programmer on their site, so they’re obviously upping the size of their staff just to be able to handle all the promises they’ve made.
Why don’t you guys cut them just a little bit of slack.
If you had any inkling just how much pressure these guys/gals are under, I’m sure you’d back off a bit.
Development is a fucking hard, thankless job, y’all.

You can always buy from a different company like, say, Roland and have guys in suits trying to dine out on synths and drum machines the company made 30 years ago.
Then you’d be supporting the Nintendo of synth makers and they’d assuredly NEVER break your wittle hearts. :’(
Good luck getting FREE, massively forward-thinking software from them, though.

PS
I still get audio through the plugin using Ableton Live, just no automation.
All is not totally lost.

RoaFL, I get all that and I’m sure, insect and Purusha and everyone else do too, however: If you’re announcing on 30 September that “Naturally, we are working on bringing out an Overbridge update with El Capitan compatibility as soon as possible.” and you don’t have it exactly TWO MONTHS later on 27 November, don’t announce a “celebration of the upcoming release of Overbridge 1.10” that you’re not even able to deliver within the NEXT THREE WEEKS until 15 December. Just get to work – or tell us where we’re at – or shut up. Nothing to celebrate here.

This isn’t a criticism of the development, this is a criticism of the marketing and communications. Clunky and unfortunate are the kindest ways of putting it that I can come up with.

yeah i agree. i mean i get it that things sometimes take longer than expected but all those newsletters, announcements and campaigns stating the release would be imminent etc and then nothing. pretty frustrating.

Ok seems celebrate is done.
So let me celebrate with 1.10.
