Louis CK is completely right; a generation of spoiled idiots.
RoaFL, Louis CK doesn’t even use Overbridge… Oh, and you’re an idiot…
Is that levelled at me in any way?
Apparently, you didn’t understand me, so I’ll say it again, as simply as I possibly can: My criticism is not aimed at what elektron is delivering. It’s not about whether the high expectations users of their gear have are justified or whether we’re spoiled idiots.
It’s about their communication and marketing and the expectations they themselves set when they repeatedly announce and “celebrate” something that doesn’t exist for a quarter of a year.
It’s not that they’re failing to fulfill my exaggerated expectations as a spoiled idiot. It’s that they’re creating spoiled idiots by their own marketing setting the bar too high for their development. Again and again.
I bought the RYTM without OB and I’m happy with it without OB. But please, be quiet about it and don’t sell it as water-turned-to-wine if you can’t make it work.
Announce stuff when you’re ready to deliver. That simple, really.
+1
Eloquently said.
I decided to go Elektron over DSI after I read about overbridge and picked up a RYTM and an A4. I figured coming from a software background this would be ideal to jump into hardware. After a few weeks of fighting with over bridge because I was an idiot and had upgraded to El Capitan I just turned off the computer and plugged the machines right into the speakers and now Im glad that Overbridge wasn’t ready or I might have missed out on really exploring the hardware. I am looking forward to OB when it arrives but the hold up isn’t keeping me up at night.
Where can I find the Overbridge 1.10 beta 2? I and enrolled in the beta program but never got the emails from them. I only have the link to beta version 1.0.5.0 if you have a link to the beta 1.10 pleas post here.
never cared much about ob, used it a few times in the past (before I updated to el cap) .
Last night I wanted to start a session using overbridge, so i updated my rytm, overbridge cp etc, but when I ran the control panel and connected the rytm my mac just reboots.
I can open the control panel without anny issues, but it happens when I connect the rytm.
is this a known issue? I know ob doesn’t work on el capitan yet, but I don’t think I saw this issue mentioned here before.
guess I will downgrade the mac back to previous OS.
I don’t think 1.10 is available in the beta program yet. Or did I miss something?
Control panel and audio over usb works fine for me in El Cap, it’s just the plugin that isn’t working.
so I cloud create an aggregat device and stream audio via usb of rytm + a4 into the daw under El Capitan?
Yup, aggregate device setup is working fine for me for both A4 and Rytm.
I’m not having issues with the plugin. It’s been working with me with no issues, so far.
Elektron’s position is that the plug doesn’t work in El Cap - that’s certainly been my experience. Guess you must be one of the lucky ones.
What happens when it’s not working? Does the plugin just not load?
Maybe I’m lucky because I’m using live 8 and not live 9?
Loads in daw but doesn’t connect to the elektron - dot in top right of the plugin window doesn’t change from red to green.
10.11 looks like a great OS. I’d love to give both my macs a fresh 10.11 install, but really need some communication from Elektron as to when El Cap compatibility is coming.
And even as a fan of Louis CK’s work, I find this neither spoiled nor idiotic.
Just about all the other developers have rolled out updates for 10.11 compatibility, and developers have had beta access to the OS prior months to its release.
Oh, well, I wish I had known that Analog 4 will work as an Aggregate device before!.. Works great, thanks!
Beta is finally out, and it’s working GREAT on El Capitan! YESSSSSSSSS.
