Sounds like a great machine! Those kicks are indeed very good.
Really nice. There’s quite bit of gain boost when increasing compression as described in the manual it’s comp+gain and threshold+release). And it can get really gnarly as well. So far I find it really musical even at higher overdriven settings. No exaggerated pumping or anything.
Can’t wait to get mine.
Although you’ve set the bar pretty high already.
I think this is also one of the things it excels at and a reason why I bought it. I love off beat techno and man…
On another note I did find a few things already that I hope they will be able to fix. Nothing show stopping but sometimes annoying nonetheless. Some things also might be user error so I need to test them more.
I thought ‘there’s off beat and then there’s this!’ Before realizing the previous example you posted was still playing when I played the new one. Sounds like a great machine, very crisp.
Oh that sequencer must be fun! I like distortion, but like these the cleaner sounds as well.
Can the decay on the kick get pretty long too? From some of the demos it sounds like it has some length, like some long rumbling bass.
I wonder when someone will release a nice Perkons sample pack, for us plebes who don’t have one you know, Digitakt food!
Yes in can get quite long.
And yes, there will be a sample pack
Here’s the first look video of the brand new Erica Synths Perkons. It arrived this week and loving it so far. Can’t wait to master this one. Enjoy these first few jams!
That second jam mate.
Oooooooooh Weeee!
Awesome. Looks like you’re pretty comfortable with it already! Sounds really good.
This was awesome, thanks for taking the time to throw a video together. Waiting on mine and the Syntrx 2 and needed a new video!
Does anyone else have trouble figuring out what sound is coming from what track? I am sure it is pretty obvious when you are playing but when watching these videos I follow the lights and think I am seeing one sequence but then realize another set of blinking lights might be what I am listening to. I am guessing it is the combination of the LFO modulation, the parameter locks and the delay that is throwing me off.
This scares me. Which problems did you encounter?
Cheers!
Nothing major. Things like midi clock mode being the third option on the settings menu in stead of the second as stated in the manual. One time a voice went out of sync when setting it to BW mode but wasn’t able to replicate it and it hasn’t happened again (might have been a midi issue so not Perkons’ fault maybe ).
Switching BBD from short to long mode can cause a bunch of loud clicks in certain situations (still finding out when it happens exactly.
Those were the most noteworthy I think.
One thing I hope will be added in a firmware update is modes for (from the top of my head) 2 of the algorithms which have no different modes (yet).
Nothing to be worried about
Thanks! Yeah really felt right at home. Now a matter of getting muscle memory to do some more advanced moves in quick succession. In due time
Thanks!
In some of the jams the kick is created on voice 2. So that might throw you off a bit. Voice 1 and two both can create great drum and drone sounds so I change it up some times. Third voice is Tom/snare/karplus , fourth voice is HH/Ride/shaker/noise etc
Have you switched to vintage bbd yet?
I hope it allows for noisier atmospherics and general fizz…
Nice to have another flavour on board.
The kicks sound huge. Pretty awesome machine. I have it on a very short GAS list, but it usually takes me a while to pull the trigger on something this expensive. I will see how it develops over time.
Are you tracking via the outs or running it all through the master? Curious how the kick reacts through the compressor. That is always the decision for me with a drum machine - how ill I track it? For example I track my rd9 all through the main outs and do separate takes if I need to.
Not yet, will check it out this week
This is all through the main out. No post processing other then a 12db/Oct low cut ew at 30 Hz or so. Already experimenting with individual outputs through reverbs etc. It really opens up a great extra flavor (and a bit of nice stereo imaging )
Great demos, now I have a little GAS for this thing. Sounds very full even with so few voices
