Nope that’s not possible.
So yes this is indeed the case.
Send out and direct out are useable simultaneously and you still get the signal to the main out as well that can be very interesting with some nice pedals etc
Oh this changes everything
Dang it! Do you think it may come in a firmware? I was hoping to offset a few beats(hip hop type) unquantized. Maybe the lfos and envelopes could help as a workaround so the step comes in late(fractions of a second). Must be a way…
So far it hasn’t bothered me much. I use micro timing a lot on elektron devices. Perkons never really feels robotic though. And on voice 4 (hi percussion) you have the attack on param2 which helps here. Plus a hint of shuffle.
No idea if they will implement this feature. Would be nice indeed, but wouldn’t hold my breath for it either.
A few things I would also like to see:
- A way to latch mute mode. Currently you need two hands to mute and unmute a voice. A workaround for now is switching the filter type on the kick from LP to HP for example.
- A way to enter ‘manual mode’, where all knobs are reset to their actual value. Dominion 1 has this feature which is quite nice.
- PP mode that doesn’t repeat the start and end step
- A way to switch the default reset mode to the hard reset or to set it to 1/4 note in stead of 1/16. Although the default reset is a nice touch, i find that I have to time it just between the 4th 1/16 note and the 1st 1/16th of the next beat to have it reset on the first beat of the bar. Which most often just fails. Hard reset gives more control and then it’s just a matter of your own timing.
Other than that I’m quite content with everything so far but I’m sure I’ll find other things that might be nice to have. But they’re definitely just that: ‘would nice to have’
Thanks. How good is the swing? Yes i i could see latch mute mode being very useful in a live set up.
It’s a good. I mean, it’s the traditional swing. And you get a resolution of 16 on it. With 16 being just close to timed over the next note. Which I found to be funky as hell because it gives a very loose feeling to the beat and 3rd note of the beat since 2 and 4th notes are times almost over it but not quite
So good. One last thing i notice on a lot of videos and yours the tempo set at 3 (master). Is that not a slow tempo. The beats are around 130/40 though? Cheers.
The last bunch of grooves were actually higher at 153 bpm or so :). Yeah it’s very sensitive. But you can set the bpm more exactly by holding shift and wiggling the tempo knob. You can then use the grid to enter the tempo. (see manual).
One thing I found was that, even setting the bpm via the grid, it’s definitely not as exact as Elektron bpm. 140 bpm seems to be 140.02 or something like that. Still trying to figure out if this is indeed the case. I recorded without midi clock into a DAW set to the same bpm and it wasn’t exactly the same. Going to do a gtest with the xone db4 to see how big the difference is as they might be able to fix that in a firmware update. (a loop from a digitakt groove will stay in time for 30+ minutes with a bit of phasing happening at the end of 30 minutes)
Cheers again.
Much appreciate the thoughtful commentary @DaveMech, I went back and listened to your first look jams again and they’re absolutely slammin.
The delay is such a nice addition to the sound, especially when you dial it down into those really short glitchy time ranges.
I want to emulate that on some of the gear I have but it’s going to be a bit more laborious — the Perkons having all those controls right up front is a dream. Keep the jams comin!
thanks @your_lamp MOre complex jams also comming up in a next video.
First, per request, some melody and as clean a sound I could get out of Perkons (so far, but… why would I? )
Happy Perkons
I must have some incurable mental disorder where I want to collect every new drum machine, not excluding this one.
Some kinda obsessive compulsive mk ultra for these beat making devices, likely a result of taking too much acid during my pre-adolescent formative years.
me too, but no acid, so I was probably a MilAb
Get all the drum machines, get all the dru……
There is something v special about the way this machine sounds, it reminds me of some of the stuff heard in hainbach’s test equipment videos, those kind of beautifully saturated, sine wave-ish tones I find incredibly trippy.
Owning the Syntax already this is pretty tempting. They must be an amazing pair and the routing possibilities are endless.
Melodic part definitely sounds great to me, reminds me a bit of the Nord Drum 2 melodic FM stuff… clean can certainly be nice for a short little break down, heads above the clouds before diving back down in to the filth.
Definitely :). Don’t really like to push the Perkons into a distorted mess either, but to me it really shines in the zone where it’s a bit gritty yet not over the top. The sweet side of it is cute though and sounds warm and fuzzy But it’s quite a small range. Perkons wants to live on the edge a bit more.
It’s ok, they’ve got me for that.
We should start a club.
Can I join?
