Midi and analog should be the other way around in the manual yeah.
I’ve notified them about a few things. They’re going to update the manual asap on two points: midi/analog clock setting. And the shift+parameter function. The latter was an idea and shouldn’t have found its way I to the manual. Not sure if they’ll add it in a future firmware update , who knows
good to know, I think there is room for many juicy updates, it feels like we bough the Perkons in early access.
Firmware is 0.9 so who knows. But I’m not going to assume anything. Bought it for what it is currently. Everything added will be a wonderful surprise:)
Yea had a replug and rejig this evening, now working ok via midi … thanks for confirming I wasn’t going insane…
i saw a pic of your studio setup in the lyra thread and its so cool. i think at the time it was 2 lyras an OT and some other stuff going into a mixer. i am guessing you record a stereo master out of the mixer and thats what we are hearing?
Yeah, at the minute, everything is going into the OT, then being mixed in there and out to a little recorder.
Here’s an excerpt from one of the first improvisation sessions with a completely new setup that I’m working on. I made the move to fully improvise and it has been a wonderful experience so far. Long way to go still, but it’s so much fun so going to keep at it.
Still having midi sync problems with my unit sadly. Specifically getting it to sync with clock from DAWs. Have tried several different computers & ableton / cubase / midi interfaces / cables. Works reliably for a period of time and then seems to lose the connection.
Sounds like a defect somewhere. Since I figured mine out it’s been rock solid.
Hi guys,
i am looking for new drum machine, i will depart from rytm.
I like this one, but is it capable to do more traditional hh and silkier bd ? All demos i heard uptill now are somewhat distorted, i like that, but need smooth bassy smoth kick some times, and 606() - like hh.
Have you considered the Acidlab Drumatix, if that’s the sound you’re looking for?
Smooth and silky are not words I think of when I think about Erica synth stuff.
If the 606 sound is what you want, look at the TR06, TR6s, or TR8-S.
If you go into using Perkons wanting it to sound like other drum machines, you’ll probably be disappointed.
It has a surprisingly wide range, especially regarding kicks, but there’s nothing traditional about any of it.
Here’s the improvisation set I did for amw.fm. One hour. Have a few gigs lined up so this was a nice one to test this setup. Decided about a week ago that this is the setup for the next few months.
I’m in the second batch and, from the looks of it, I’m not getting my Perkons until 2023
So in terms of ‘melodic’ stuff, there is no quantisation on the tune knobs so it all has to be done by ear?
Is this instant drum machine aka turn on and band instant rhythms ? Or do you have to do an initial set up? Would be a great addition for days when you want to go fast and have little patience.
I think real users are better equipped to respond, BUT… from the looks of it it seems rather quick to use…
