And to think that I probably drank about ten of em at least…
He uses crayfish traps, similar to what on uses for crab. They’re attached to the bow of his kayak in the photo:
Damn. Mega. I suppose I’ll post images/howtos when I figure out kayak speckled trout fishing in my area.
Epic
I’ve had similar with the local crab at my friend’s holiday home in Washington DC, bay area. I guess that’s bay seasoning in butter. Great memories of great food.
Do you think making Welsch Rarebit with some pumpkin beer is a bad idea???

Those be really big crayfish!
In oregon.
Vegetables, tables and benches are tiny.
Giant bread, lemons too.
Crayfish are perfectly standard.
I voted no, but I hardly ever do Pumpkin beer with food. The spices can be a bit overwhelming so I personally wouldn’t use it in, or even drink it with most foods. Works Ok as a dessert though. If you were looking for something fall-inspired to pair with Welsch Rarebit, I might recommend a dry cider, or a nice, crisp Kolsch to compliment and offset the savory weight of the rarebit.
Edit: I would like to add, that the circled question in this screenshot is the one I answered in the poll. The first and second questions in this post are opposites.
Well, I drank the pumpkin beer and now I am more confused than before, so I can’t really clarify anything. I agree pumpkin beer is disgusting but like the McRib it holds some amount of curiosity for me when released…which quickly turns into something that resembles self loathing after consumption.
Now I am wondering is I incorrectly spelled Welsch.
I do a few every year to get into the fall mood, but I usually can’t do more than one or two in a sitting as gets to be too much. The biggest problem is that there are so many bad ones out there that overdo it with the spices, and I am just sick of it by the end of one beer. I feel like I am drinking a Corona with a pumpkin spice packet dumped in. I find Southern Tier Pumking to be one of the better ones. It’s a little darker, heavier, and richer which helps to balance out the spices, and there is a little pumpkin flavor as well.
Ha! I agree. It was the Southern Tier Pumpking which I had earlier although I think I should of waited until October to indulge!
Next stop some Starbucks pumpkin Frankenstein-lite creation!
Yeah, they jump the gun on it every year. I start seeing pumpkin beers in August, and I’m like, are you for real? It’s like 90 degrees some days and you want me thinking about buying this right now? But I should go pick some up soon, because by the time I am actually in the mood to drink one, the selection can be picked over.
Well, haven’t you finished your Xmas shopping yet?! I might pop out to buy some 'nog after dinner…
Am I wrong to assume your are in NYC based on your avatar? I ended up using some bodega bought Haubrau Dunkel for my rarebit.
Well now I’m gonna have to go cut down a Christmas tree this weekend, thanks.
That dunkel sounds like a good choice for the rarebit.
I live in Chicago, that’s a picture of the L here that I took.
Oh, I guess most elevated trains in the US look about the same.
Good luck with finding the perfect tree. Good to get it up early so to throw it out the day after Christmas like most my neighbors!
I made a batch of hot sauce with peppers I grew. This batch has smoked habanero and red ghost peppers with cider vinegar.
Just started a batch of sauerkraut as well.
Ever put juniper berries in your kraut? It’s divine…
