Dry Cleaning? (Not a trio, but maybe they were then?)
If not, definitely check them out too, they’re awesome

Have we started combing downtempo playlists yet? This is my new favorite true crime podcast
Suprised nobody suggested Susanne Vega yet…
I am a little imagining that there is no such band and your friend sharing this band with you was an illusion to you. Never happened. and now you’re trying to find this imaginary band who only lived in your mind… That would be a plot twist.
And then, surprisingly, you still find them… Or at least that’s what you think. Some kind of rule 35 of the Internet, but with music…
Not sure I agree with this definition!
yea 40s/50s is relatively young on this forum

Yeah, this ‘promises’ song definitely has some Kim Gordon’s vibe.
I’m out of touch with indie pop these days. 80s-90s-00s I might’ve been some help. For whatever reason, my brain has gotten stuck on Chvrches, which is not the band you’re after.
@Gino would the name pop out of a list?
I wondered if they might have been on the cover of the NME 4 years ago?
Or maybe they were on the festival circuit that year?
You could also scan through the indiepop wiki:
Good luck, we’re all counting on you.
I had Chrvches in mind too to begin with but doesn’t fit
Another random suggestion: International Teachers of Pop but I think the lead singer is on the younger side
This is great! I’d not heard of them before. Thanks!
