I usually love it here …

I’m thinking the next Elektron product launch goes something like this:

We’re Releasing a New Produkt. Sorry about that.

Only if it’s gonna be that performance mixer with analog processing and overbridge and motion sequencing and whatnot that everybody dreams about.

We have a word in german its called “Konstruktivekritik”, it means positive critizism, not all countrys have this, i.e. critique is observed different with different social standards. I.e in asia people are a lot more friendly compared to my origins standard. It has its benefits though, in both directions. So when i critique a thing , i love it, and i want it to be better/ improved, but i still love it nontheless.

So, in my OP I was asking a question, I wasn’t trying to be a gatekeeper or trample on people’s ‘rights’. I asked:

as lots of the posts on this forum just descend in to full-on attacks of people, companies, machines and whatever else is blowing in the wind at the moment.

I was frustrated and just don’t understand the reasoning behind so much negativity and hostility on a music forum. The reply calling my post ‘Snowflaky’ made me laugh though, I’m a 53 year old ex serving soldier who’s seen (and inflicted) my fair share of misery. On the Snowflake scale I would suggest that I’m pretty low on the required attributes. But hey, labels are cheap to throw around I guess.

I once went to an Elektron meet, organized by the community and facilitated by a member who took along all of his machines and we all jammed along while drinking beers on a full club sound system. Elektron donated freebies and we all had a great time. It was the first time I’d heard a Rytm at max volume and it took my breath away. While talking to a guy I was confused by his comments that this ‘new’ forum had lost its community spirit and he was taking time out from posting due to personal attacks. At the time I was just in to the music and rarely read much but he was an active contributor, I think the background radiation level was just too much for him and he moved on, leaving newer members who can thrive in the increasing radiation levels. 'Suppose that’s where I am now, although I’ve no intention of pulling the chord, just using the mute tools available.

I can’t imagine a meetup going so harmoniously nowadays, but would love to be proved wrong.

I think this is still a very positive forum with a majority of good folks and my favorite forum as well. People are helpful and only a few give stupid answers but that is easy to ignore.

Go Elektronauts!

I’m beginning to think that there are some mixed feelings about this Syntakt release.

I agree. It won’t get more positive than this in the world wide web of lunatics.
I find it pretty lovely and peaceful over here. Unless you say you don’t like the sound of the Octatrack. Then things can get ugly real fast.

As long as you like The sound of the crowd there’s hope for you :ecstatic:

This is a fair analysis. We can evaluate something critically without being over dramatic. It just feels like the focus is drama. I am not sure if it’s because text based makes it more difficult or we expect the happy place we are used to. That or people forget that this isn’t Twitter/Facebook/etc… A lot of us use this as our social spot because it’s not those things.

Either way, thank you for the constructive reply

We should also remember that this forum might be the first time someone checks out the Elektron community. Big release, big traffic. I hope it doesn’t deter newcomers. I joined specifically because it was a happy place that could analyze things critically and amicably.

I like it here.

The new Elektron box looks cool.

I’d like to pay with it.

The weather is nice out where I live.

Music is neat.

It looks like you’re complaining about a thread that complaints about complaints.

(Yes, I get that I complain about a complaint about a thread that complaints about complaints).

The discussions on Elektronauts lately reminds me of discussions between “I say what I want”-Trump supporters VS. “you hurt my feelings, you’re so negative” SJW’s.

All this because of an electronic instrument… It’s hilarious…

This whole shebang reminds me of Brexit.

The forum has changed for much worse:

  • it started with the crypto & stock brutes flooding the forum with their planet-killing idiocy.

  • Now personal attacks get upvoted. Who ever thought liking is hating? We‘re closer to 1984 than we need to be.

  • Criticism of advertising for influencers is met with weird personal emails or outright hating. I wasn’t even criticizing influencers by name.

  • It used to be about solving problems on machines, now it’s about spreading pseudo-information and causing trouble for users.

  • Since last night, I have had to set 4 users to perma-ignore just to make the forum bearable. Not a good sign.

  • New product sales break records - forum breaks records for negativity.

So yeah maybe it’s just me psyching about this turn for the worse…

To me, the most toxic feature is this flagging. I know, there are not enough mods and it’s a tiresome job, but this is almost like witch hunting.

I rarely get offended, because I tend not to get involved most of the times and I am kind of a passive, reclusive person, but I notice that sometimes it’s a bit unfair.

That’s just my 2 cents.

A man after my own heart. I never flag. Its a form of abuse and bullying.

Sometimes it’s better to flag a personal attack than to respond with a personal attack of one‘s own.
So I have flagged before, not that I‘m proud of it.

It’s also perfectly ok to flag hate speech.

You can flag under those circumstances but ive found it makes you feel worse explaining your rationale to a moderator who is stressed and burnt out and sometimes unfortunately biased.
