Korg developing new ARP Odyssey synth

Yeah… fuck Roland, and fuck “scatter”
Korg gets it.

Ditch that and do a 2600…

WOW.

I always thought that CBS/Fender were the ones who owned the Arp holdings?

I’m sure these things get passed around all the time, though.

Much more interested in this than the Aira line. Korg gets it.

Maybe this means they will end up doing a 2600 at some point? Man, I hope so.

I always liked the late model Halloween colorway with 80’s style graphics. Looks like they’re going for the classic black/gold though.

you got there first. lol
would love to try this project myself some day

Oops… got this in the wrong forum. Maybe a mod can move this for me?

Seen news of that 2600 via Matrixsynth… Looks great…

Wow! “a faithful recreation of the legendary 1970s analog synthesiser, the ARP Odyssey”

I’d say Korg has now officially finished testing the Analogue waters, and has now taken a deep dive!

Maybe Roland can license Korg to build a proper TR-808 and 909? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s great to see reissues like this and more analog gear being made but digital synthesis is never going to improve if certain companies don’t fly the flag for developing tech that pushes the format further also.
I see pros and cons to each side of the argument but I think there should be enough room in everyones musical lexicon for well made analog, digital, modelled and hybridized products like the P12 / Poly Evolver and keyboards like the Solaris.

Korg are really doing some interesting stuff lately

Actually, I’d be more interested by an FM synth with analog filters. But Roland’s digital analog emulation that can only save 16 patterns, and can’t sequence pitch changes doesn’t seem like an improvement of anything to me; I’d rather have a Roland R8, or R70.

Yeap great news

Sweet!

Very cool news. Can’t wait to see how it sits next to my ARP Odyssey mkIII, which is a-fucking-mazing being controlled via the a4.

Very cool time to be into the synth world. The best of old and new all at fingers reach for practically everybody. 2014 is is not looking like the year I save a lot of money.

:+1:

Would be cool if they gave you a choice! I like the white MK1 personally.
Would be great of they could price this around 850$?

Whoa, simply whoa…whats next? Korg Chroma?
