Bitwig is already tablet/touch friendly (gui changes for tablets) and would be very cool on iOS,
I like Zenbeats too, Iāve found it to be the least-janky ios DAW.
I said the same thing in the Bitwig thread, but others there were pretty convincing (and adamant) that the coding this would require to port Bitwig from MacOS to iOS would be a very huge undertaking (I wouldnāt know myself).
Does anyone know what happens if you stop the subscription to the Logic app? Does the app disappear from your iPad? Does it stay there but you canāt launch it? Does it stay there, you can launch it but you canāt open anything? Or it stays on your iPad, you can open your files in read only mode but canāt make any edits?
good question, i am 100% against any software that calls home every time it opens. Roland piss me off with the TR8s editor, takes forever to launch because it has to call home first.
Honestly this whole anti-sub crusade is tedious. Itās not a real issue. It feels like the same people who were in favor of Napster as a righteous cause. If this is the biggest cause in your life can I introduce you to modern day slavery, Amazon deforestation or ocean plastics?
Checking in to confirm that your specific āoctopus dongleā can transfer MIDI and audio over two of its ports.
In the Amazon description it specifically says it does not transfer MIDI, but it seems to be working for you. This seems to be the solution for MIDI/headphone use- thanks for any info youāve got.
So I decided to spend a good part of my day off trying to take my Ableton Workflow and bring it into Logicā¦and after a few hours of getting to grips with the Logic UI and workflow, I am happy to report that I have achieved an Ableton style workflow in Logic. WOO HOO!!!
I mostly work from 4-12 Bar Loops, Resample and build up patterns via recording to the arranger viewā¦and I was able to achieve a very similar workflow in Logic. This is exciting for me, as I was always intimidated by the amount of UI in Logicā¦but now that Iāve found my ZEN, I can just ignore the UI elements which arenāt important to me right now.
I saved out a Template as well, so my Resample workflow is just a single click to RECORD.
Anyhooā¦exciting times are on the horizon. I canāt wait to go from composing on the iPad Pro, and finishing it all on macOS when I have to.
Excuse me, thatās 8 cups of coffee where I live!
Tbh, Iād be fine with 50/year for a good DAW. Itās just that I have used Logic for a few months and donāt really consider it a good DAW for working with hardware. Plus Iād expect at least some discounts for those who have the desktop version.
do hipsters even care about the people who donāt like them, whatās so bad about hipsters lol?
I think if this version of logic has warp markers it will be the only app on ios with warp marker capability is that right cause that would make it worth it?
Wow Iād not seen that part of the description, saying it doesnāt support MIDI signals is bizarre. It gives you two fully featured usb-c ports and a power only usb-c port. Iāve had no problems with midi or audio over the two fully featured usb-c ports.
Can confirm, it supports midi over usb.
LumaFusion is also a beast, and you can actually purchase the app for only $30 USD.
Interesting comment, Iād always had the same feeling about Logic. It looks likeā¦ a lot?! Especially compared to the utalitarian look of Ableton. But the new UI is very nicely put together with all the sounds on the left hand side etc. If they translated some of that to the desktop app & you can get an Ableton esque workflow plus all the touchscreen goodness to complement desktopā¦ Thatās pretty sweet. Very interested to see how this plays out.
Same, but we have Ableton Notes
Will Elektron have Overbridge ready on release day as well?
I donāt think itās possible as overbridge is also a driver not only a plugin, and you canāt install drivers on ipad, but it would be a gamechanger for me, hope Iām wrong.
I wonder if Apple plans to edit the UI of the desktop version to make it look more like the iOS version? I donāt know if thatās a good idea or not (since of course I havenāt yet used the iOS version), but from a consistency standpoint, it would make sense.
M1 iPad supports DriverKit, Iāve got no idea of how limited or not it is
But from a usability standpoint it would be a nightmare. Especially on a 30-inch screen!
