This would be a great feature!

Maybe it also has something to do with MC101 inherent clip change process. If MC could instantly clip change to another clip while staying in current measure and time, that would help a lot. Sadly, many machines have to wait end of clip/pattern before switching (hello DT, Electribe2, … )

i think its the full engine. im using the free trial of zen core pro and made a patch on my laptop then uploaded to the 101… so it must have all the nuts and bolts within it. its really cool. i had a 707, didnt really gel with it. i actually find im quicker on the 101, the layout seems to work better funnily enough. seems less laggy too.

My 101 arrived yesterday evening, had a quick play and so far seem to prefer it to the 707 I had, I see it as a nice little accompaniment player for live jams. I will probably mostly use it for looping premade loops, though the memory might not be enough for 4x16 loop tracks especially if they are longer than a bar or two. Still at this price I can accept that, not so the 707.

Worst case scenario I’ll dedicate a track to drums using a kit, and then have an instrument track and 2 loop tracks.

Have not been able to determine if tracks can be different lengths yet, I think so but can any confirm?

Yep they can. Different lengths, different resolutions, and fwd, backwards etc and random.

Gotta crack out manuel :joy: Thanks for confirmation :+1:

I suggest you this video based on Roland’s manual.
Very well explained, helped me to get the basics on this machine. Not recent updates covered here as it is 9 month old now, but I hope it will help

Right. I don’t wanna get into it, but I got a 101 now. As far as synths go and just general output boom, it sounds better than the Deluge.

It’s the not knowing that was killing me.

Mine is supposed to arrive today. If I do not gel with it, it will go back. But class compliant audio in a portable box is huge for me! I had/have to at least try it.

I know, right? The curiosity just got the better of me.

Biggest surprise so far is the workflow is no hassle at all.

surprised me as well. Thought I wouldn’t gel with the controls.
I actually love using it.
Swap my TR8S for a 6S for sure

It’s @Unifono’s fault, though, really.

Scatter edit is pretty great, I’m definitely NOT one for canned gimmicky spot fx (as I suspect most here aren’t) and from a quick play with the Scatter edit it seems that much more useful/tasteful/interesting things can be done, and each pad can act on any or all tracks, and in say a case where you have 1 pad affecting say tr1 and another pad affecting tr2 then they can both do their thing if pressed at same time.
Pretty comprehensive and simple editing too, I like it!

What do you guys use the new class compliant usb for? I was thinking about using it as a kind of send/return with iOS apps, but since it only can send the mix out I get a lot of feedback noise…

So now that sounds can be transferred to the MC units from Zen Pro (and vice versa) I wonder if it will be possible to transfer entire sequences and patterns. Sketch, compose and perform on the hardware… edit, arrange, mix on the software. That would be ideal.
