Most disconcerting (non-violent) films you've seen?

Those who mentioned Cronenberg films might be happy to learn his kid has picked up the genre.

Jonathan Glazer‘s Under The Skin sent me under :grinning: Mica Levi’s score is amazing also

On the theme of skin…

If you haven’t seen The Skin I Live In, then it is firstly a fantastic movie, a seriously dark comedy and very disconcerting.

Most dysfunctional family movie ever.

Good shout, and pretty much all of his films could qualify.

In a way more low key way I find Ruben Ostlund’s films disconcerting, especially parts of Force Majeure and the scene in The Square with the “performance art” piece during dinner. He gets at a certain type of middle age male angst in a really cutting way. Haven’t seen his new one yet though.

Everything by Roman Polanski, Stanley Kubrick and Iorgos Lanthimos.

Actually this whole psychologic thriller genre: Seeing violent pornography graphic violence like SAw/Hostel does not disturb me as much as these deep traumatic experiences…

Excellent movies, guaranteed headaches for days.

Other masterpiece is son of Saul where all violence happens in the outer corners of the screen.

Even now I get a little skin crawl when I see Dylan Baker in anything!

I saw Sauls Son in the theater it’s not disconcerting it’s horrifying.

Oh absolutely, he was hot, was able to complete music videos and finance short films, I think he worked in Kubrick’s FX department? I know he was interested in full movies but always assumed production would not give him control.

I wish someone like A24 could bank on him today!

I was big fan, had his dvd when it came out. Coincidentally I read an article about him the other day, hence saying he turned down opportunities for features. He did work for Kubrick!
