I’m mostly happy with the effects but the exception is the reverb, well, the reverbs…
The best ones are the air reverb and air spring reverb but they both take some tweaking and chaining to sound good, as opposed to the Syntakt or Digitakt reverb.
Oddly enough, the built in reverb on the hype synth sounds a bit better to my ears…
I quite like the Air Spring Reverb, probably because it’s not meant to sound pristine and it’s easy to manipulate it’s tone to fit when needed.
The reg Air Reverb can do a job, be a reverb and create space, but I suppose people are feeling they’re missing a high quality one that sounds good exposed and used as an important part of a mix… hopefully Akai will introduce something soon.
Anyone else find it surprising that the MPC plugin platform hasn’t been opened more readily to 3rd party developers?
For the amount of MPC’ers out there now, you’d imagine someone like Valhalla would take a LOT of $30-$50 purchases from the MPC community for a ported Vintage Verb…
I was not a fan either.I had the Live,X and then the One.Then i crumbled and bought another local X again because i was curious and it was a great deal. Was up and down with it.Comparing to Ableton…….Eventually i have been totally charmed by the overall sound using the air effects mostly to compress and finalise/EQ ect and filter……i realise i get a fatter, wider more compounded result.Maybe not better but more satisfying.Finished.Im mostly using it to record long passages of older recordings onto pads and tweaking ready for further resequencing ect ect.And the X makes the experience pretty luxurious……
I’d imagine they would need to upgrade the processing power and ram to use more plugins standalone…
But, you can do it right now if you use controller mode correct? I just got to the controller mode section of the mpc bible so I guess I will know shortly
@PeteSasqwax did you find an audio interface to get you the 8 outs for your One?
I am in the same boat, but a cheapskate so 2nd hand would do me. I could also live with only 4 outputs. There is a thread on the MPC forum of working usb devices, but there are pages and pages and some of the “working” claims don’t seem completely reliable
I did the same (went for 4 outs instead) and opted for a secondhand M-Audio Air 192/14. I’ve not had chance to try it with the MPC yet but with desktop and iPad it has been really impressive so far. I’ll update when I’ve had chance to try it with the One though
Out of curiosity, is there a workaround to get a pseudo hardware send/return using the outs and ins of the Live 2? Like, if I had an effects box, could I route things somehow to get the wet part processed through external gear and the dry part still kept within the MPC?
I’m thinking maybe if a Return channel can be routed to a separate output, I could just keep the Return channel dry (no internal effects), route it out to outputs 3/4, run them through the effects pedal and then route it back into inputs 1/2.
I skimmed this video yesterday and saw nothing about a new MPC it seemed he used it as click bait talking about an update to the MPC software. he had comments turned off so people can’t say it. At which point in the video does he even talk about an actual new mpc?
I hate that sort of shit. He talks about the MPC software becoming M1 native and suggests we should be using our computers to run more plugins.
Yes, most likely a new MPC is coming on the 23 June, the MPC Keys. The new firmware’s added features give it away pretty much. It’s also the first time I remember with this line up, that Akai announces a firmware update but has the release of it scheduled a month later.
I thought that the Mpc keyboard wasn’t a secret anymore, considering the amount of leaks, but that video is just pointless clickbait, hate that shit, took the time to give it a thumbs down…
