MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 2)

Honestly, I don’t see the harm in updating to check stuff out, it’s just for me this breaks it in terms of being able to work on stuff, which I need to at the moment haha. If I had time to purely mess around with the OPX4 for the next week I’d probably just noodle around not making any tunes and have some fun with that. You can always revert, and tbh the more people find and report bugs, the quicker I’d assume they’d be taken care of

i’d like to noodle too just can’t afford it, but it’s like that for every update I’m sure they’ll iron things out soon enough

Yeah fair. Either way see no harm in either, and it’s not like the new features are going anywhere so no real FOMO need, unless like me, you insta-activated OPX4 to then immediately revert back to 2.10 lol, woops

OPX4 has caused me lost sleep lol

Never knew FM synths are this amazing.

I love FM because every patch feels like an adventure haha. Always end up in some unexpected territories

you guys are making history, the mpc has never before had FM comments like this… good stuff for all. I hope they make so much money that the thought of them making even more models becomes trivial to them… I’m still holding out for a non touch screen version, with the pads on the right side of the q-links and at least 2 q-link faders, battery capable, and not necessarily smaller but at least sleeker than the mpc one by half… an mpc as sleek as a polyend tracker if you will

:joy:

and if they make it with the retro scheme color I’ll pay 1899 for it

:joy::joy:

I definitely hope they do more retro style ones to be fair. I got the OG Live over the MkII because I didn’t want the speaker (and I couldn’t find one anyway), just doesn’t seem like a comfortable thing to rest my hands/arms on for days at a time though. Retro model in an OG Live format with more dedicated buttons would be super cool imo, as would a Retro X, but I don’t think I can fit that beast in my studio having looked at the dimensions unfortunately lol. Bring back retros with wood sides and those awesome brown leather hand rests though imo! haha

Are you sure you dont want 69 qlinks and 420 sliders like the other guy above? :joy:

I mean… If you can fit them into the same size format I’ll take em  They’d have to be TINY controls though, so please no haha

Do love the live’s footprint/size, very similar to the original Elektron boxes which I also love.

What impressed me about the OPx4 is how much they managed to cram into it without relying too much on the touchscreen. Sure, you need to use it, but it’s mostly for navigation so I don’t feel like my mouse-phobia is making me miss out on anything.
My hope is that this will somehow be the blueprint for new synths, I would gladly pay for a ‘Hype XL’ with the modulation matrix from the OPx4, it would be an absolute beast.

More synths should have one shot envelopes.

Not sure if anyone is in the MPC hacking/modding group on FB (they built the ”Hackai” firmware, which let you run Force OS on an MPC)

There was a screenshot from the code of the new firmware with the current device names, and a new name ”MPC XL”.

The sceeenshot has since been taken down. Apparently MPC Keys was ”leaked” the same way.

I don’t have an image but if someone had the skills and interest, I’m sure they could search the repository and verify.

The MPC X is not big enough so we need an even larger version…

maybe they are going to make an X- retro version

If they slap on some wood sides and a brown leather wrist rest I’m gonna have to clear some space :joy:

Haha yeah.
I’m kind of wondering (if this is even real), if it will be something in the middle of MPC X and Live? A throwback to the 2000XL?

It wouldn’t really make sense if it was bigger than the X. On the other hand the naming does suggest that.

What we’re missing at the moment is a pad model with the RAM improvements of the Keys, which is probably important for Fabric etc. So I’d imagine XL as a beefed-up pad MPC, possibly with all the plugins included, and maybe the control strip added? Cut it down to 8 knobs, in line with what I’ve seen in most the new plugin UIs, price it around the same as the X. Then later, new One and Live replacements with the added RAM but not the plugin bundle.

I would love to say I don’t need an upgrade but as soon as a new one is out, WITH battery and speakers, I’ll be all over it like a fungus.
