You should buy a DN EVERY day until Novation get their act together and release the new Circuits. That will REALLY show them!
I’ll get the Keys tomorrow. Unless the bastards announce the Summit MKII before then.
To echo what others have said. I found the Ultranova kinda bleh sounding even with it’s tons of options. it was very much in the realm of MS2000 with the kitchen sink thrown at it but lacked any of the strange crispy edge that gave the MS it’s odd va character. All in all it just felt capable but underwhelming. The circuit has less available than the ultranova and Macro only control is something I’ve never gelled with. I was rather impressed once they launched components and opened up the internals for circuit owners but remembered what engine it was using and went back to ehhh status. I am not sure I’ve ever heard a track where someone actually made their own sound with it either. would be cool to see some more indepth Circuit programming demonstrations though.
Looks like Focusrite Group (Novation’s Parent Company) is presenting tomorrow afternoon.
So hopefully we can hear about these new Circuit’s then.
“Focusrite Group NAMM 2021 Product Presentation of our most stand-out products from: Focusrite, Novation and Focusrite Pro.”
Summit MKII , the Summit is the MKII my dude.
No way a new MK2 version of the Peak/Summit will be out anytime soon. Novation support their synths for a long time before releasing new versions. The bass station 2 came out 8 years ago in 2013, and they are still updating it, and just rehashed it as if it was a brand new product for the AFX Station (which is the exact same synth besides looks). I wouldnt expect a new peak/summit for at least another 2-3 years.
I could see a Peak rev2 coming out in a few years that incorporates the changes made to the Summit, like the filters routing, adjusted menu buttons and and text, and the other small tweaks, but yea, the Summit is a brand-spanking new synth that essentially just hit the market, it will be many years before it is updated. @circuitghost were you just joking or is there something you’d be hoping for in a MKII?
Maybe there are two 16 voice peak / summit engines replacing the old circuit synth engines in the new one
This isn’t happening, is it? Novation’s a no show, right?
Just tell me, so I can let go and move on.
Camera ran out of batteries, so no reveal until NAMM 2022.
Don’t make jokes.
Won’t sleep tonight

Agreed. The Circuit synth engines aren’t lacking in control capabilities so much as (for me) they are lacking in that certain “something”. The generated sounds almost felt like a virtual-virtual-analog synth, like a simulation of a simulation, if that makes any kind of sense. Don’t get me wrong, the original Circuit is incredibly powerful and capable of amazing output. I just never quite got on with the sound of the synth engines. Given some terrific output and patches from others, maybe that’s a perceived lack that’s personal to me, but seems I’m not alone in “not feeling it”.
On the other hand, my MicroMonsta 2, which is in a similar synth category (2x6 voice VA) has crispy, punchy character for days. I picked one up MAINLY to sequence from my Digitone, but I keep coming back to just PLAYING the thing with a keyboard controller because it sounds so good. The Circuit engines never quite grabbed me like that.
If the Circuit Tracks has upgraded engines, particularly in sound quality and “character”, that would seriously be something in terms of better competing with other VA units (not even counting the box’s sequencing and drum/sample tracks).
This is all subjective, of course. YMMV, and I STILL think the Circuit is a brilliant piece of gear. And if someone gets on with and likes the sound of the Circuit engines, then that someone is in a great place, and doesn’t have to go chasing around for a different poly VA that suits them better.
Just saw it. Crap… I was really hoping to find out more
Yeah, just an overview of some products that already seem to exist.
Well, I guess it’s back to one of the crappy samplers that already exist.
This is just stupid!
