Here’s to hoping either pre roll or threshold as well as monitoring playback while sampling. A simple sampler with removable storage, sequencer, and projects would be awesome.
Could the OG circuit chain patterns and if so save the chain within the project?
the OG circuit could chain patterns and do a few other things with them… its hard to explain to be honest.
it was in the last big update … it had limits but it was able to do more than ‘chain’.
I would hope they’ve improved it though.
hopefully much of the file management is ‘as expected’.
mono / stereo wav files, project , kits etc viewable on mac/pc from the device being plugged in Or putting the sd card in a reader.
I’m liking the look of this little rhythm box , dedicated lp/hp filter mmmmm i always thought the digi missed out here unless maybe they updated it , cool to see sync out , this and a dfam is gonna be fun
I’ll use just about anything but my fav workflows would be Ableton, Elektron, and MPCs …in that order but I also use the deluge, and mc-101 currently… the circuit was just not my cup of tea but I’m open minded and looking forward to seeing what the new models are like…
I’m still holding out hope that the CR (circuit rhythm) is going to be battery powered somehow internally. I know the side shot doesn’t look like it could work, but maybe they stuck a cell in there. Or maybe there is room for a few AA’s. I think that is one thing that helped the OG Circuits popularity, was its portability.
The interface is as playable as a guitar, such a natural feel. When I’m bored of using it for one purpose I can use it for another - midi controller, DAW controller, drum machine, drone machine. I’ve used it onstage as an ultimate DAW controller for theatre many times, very stable. I am so happy Novation sees how brilliant their interface design is on this one and they want to expand in that direction. Have been tracking this new Circuits story since the day it broke…
@healthylives thanks for posting that great sounding pack… I’ve gone through phases with similar concerns regarding the knobs. Has it worked out for you to reassign the knobs yourself to be more consistent across patches?
I do agree with @mkdsl that the engine is deep. However like some others in this thread I also just don’t like the way the Nova engine fundamentally sounds. Though it can be pushed in very interesting directions! It just takes so much more work for me to program something that pleases me in the Nova engine than with any other synth I have.
But imagine if the new Circuits have an updated Nova engine, and the old Circuits get the same update? Like the OT MKI & OT MKII… that would be great. I’m always giving Nova second chances hoping one day I’d like the way it sounds. If they decide to keep the Nova for these new units I’d be open to hearing any big advancements they make, even tho its not my fave, just because I love the Circuit.
