There are not enough pads to make use for it as a display. It’s not like Deludge that is capable in doing that as it has more pads. Still even on Deluge it’s a workaround for the lack of it not having a proper screen.
What Novation maybe could do is release an IOS/Android editor that works bidirectional to make up for not putting a screen in the Circuits. But it’s been years so I doubt they’ve any plans for that.
To be honest, I don’t want to search 20,000 samples on the OT, the DT, or an MPC … even on the PC it’s no fun. that is exactly not the target group of a circuit
how many instruments people play without a display over the years, the fact that you can use a
proper display and decouple it for ease of use is a great for creativity.
that’s the reason why i avoid using samples.
time of finding the right sample among thousands of them is probably enough to come up wit an idea of a track
What I dont understand is why not make a all 3,5 mm connections as they are cheap to source and simpler to use and make the unit slimmer, and why the SD card is next to a connection that you will
push a barrel 20 times a day without looking, does tiny cards are hard to find when they come out flying like bullets.
I found the MIDI breakouts of the original to be very annoying and with the sequel being very MIDI focused it does make sense to include built in MIDI connections. Doubt it could be any slimmer than it is while using those.
They can’t seem to make their minds up about MIDI being either minijack or DIN. I wouldn’t worry about the SD slot next tot the on/off switch. You don’t have to look behind the device in order to feel you’re pressing the on/off switch or the Mirco SD card I think.
But they are easy to use, they are available everywhere and don’t take a lot of space, they shoud be a thing in all new gear, I get that a lot of gear uses DIN and the tracks being very MIDI focused, but if we think like that we never make the move to 3,5mm.
I have to admit that I loved the original Circuit, and I regret selling it even though I’m totally into my Digitakt and Digitone. Something about the immediate simplicity of the Circuit for couch jamming that I miss. But I have one question:
I note that on the new Tracks, you can reassign the Midi Thru port to be a second Midi Output. That’s amazing. Am I missing something, or is this functionality NOT available on the Digitakt and Digitone? I really wish it was, but maybe I’m missing something.
The Launchpad Pro MK3 is a great companion for the Digitakt and Digitone.
It wont give you couch jamming as a Circuit is capable of but it still might make jamming more fun.
This doesn’t quite make sense. The two midi tracks are used mainly for external sequencing as I understand it. So you record/program a sequence in the midi tracks, send them out to another synth, drum machine whathaveu.
Sorry for the poor wording, so the Circuit has 2 midi tracks, A and B let’s say, if I only have one synth the “argon8” could I sequence a patch on midi track A and another synth patch on midi track B?
No, because argon 8 only has one patch at a time. You would need a multitimbral synth. Which could receive midi on at least two different midi channels and generate Two timbres (Patches) at the same time…
but circuit can send on two Different midi channels With its two midi tracks…
