I think that’s what Ricky and calc were talking about on yesterdays video, correct me if I’m wrong but I think it can
Have watched the videos… Rhythm looks dope! Not DT or OT dope, sure. Not “Let’s turn a fart into a sick neurobass with 3 lfo’s” dope. More like “Madlib dope”, “let’s sit with a turntable, a pile of records, my Rhythm and make 10 Beats in a day” dope.
All in all, it’s a PO33 on steroids… and I love my PO33 to death.
what is the lowest bpm the circuit rhythm offers, and does it have individual track scaling?
this thing is better than I thought…
the fact that you can keep multiple ‘packs’ installed at once is a very good look ala novation.
there are quite a few pros…
simultaneous grid FX usage ( that’s a big one)
the 4hr rechargeable battery and more
the main con so far in my opinion is that there is way too much going on globally, a lot of that can be gotten around with resampling but even for someone who loves sampling, loves resampling and micro editing of samples… that can be tedious when you have the nagging feeling that it didn’t have to be this way… just allow per track swing, and per pad pitch etc…
the unquantized recording resolution is something I’m not a fan of
definitely agree with the video, would like to see some insert fx per track and per pad, at least per track in an update and whatever they do please make them something more interesting than bit crushing and distortion. An organic FX suite would be nice.
not crazy bout the paint job, the tracks looks better imo
think they should change how automation works though, having to make sure that you exit record mode before ceasing to wiggle which ever knob your wiggling is gonna come back to haunt me thinks… should be able to put it in record, wiggle the knob, listen and add wiggles as you see fit without worrying about automation ‘take over’ do to knob position.
editing grid fx on the unit is essential, hopefully novation will implement that
Took a bit of digging but - yes! Someone does it (sampling while it’s playing sequence) on this video from about 18:30 https://youtu.be/7-_TFhpXs9Y
Not yet sure if quantized rec start/stop is possible. Anyone seen that?
Mostly I like this - but those ‘grid effects’ on the whole audio are so cliched
on the other hand though those grid fx can be used more than one simultaneously , that could yield some interesting results… and resampled.
May be will we finally get a real update on Cycles and Samples firmware. I that way, they are good.
The “exit record before you stop automating” part got me too. Seems unfinished.
yep, I don’t think they can afford too much stuff like that at this price
Thanks - on that video it’s pretty clear that it’s only threshold available to help getting internal patterns resampled. No quantised start and end, so no perfect sample length so no easy perfect slicing… a shame since the slicing is even spaced not transients
EDIT : this is me answering my own question #2 above btw
Also feels a bit fake to be getting excited about threshold sampling in that video. Voice activated recording dictaphones from the 80s lol
I think the new rule for Devs after this release is going to be forget about price brackets it doesn’t matter anymore… put the appropriate features and workflow in place and they will pay 699 or 899 for it.

In this video I think Gabe inputs slice points manually in a slice page.
I think this is simple and enjoyable portable sampler, that just works easy,
sometimes less is more.
Novation responded in regards to the Grid FX clicking/popping:
“Thanks for your feedback. Rest assured, we have made improvements to that. These videos feature early firmware. We’d love to hear what you think when you’ve had the chance to give it a try.”
Editing the FX on the computer is a non-go for me, those knobs should be enough to edit FX on the machine itself.
Apparently they respond to CC… but I agree, it’s a bit of a letdown.
Are the pads on these the same size as the launchpad x and launchpad pro mk3? After using both the Deluge and the Launchpad pretty extensively, I’m kinda surprised that Launchpad sticks with such huge buttons. On a device like Circuit I’d be happy to have more but smaller pads.
