Novation Peak

Lightbath is a great artist, and indeed, his presets are great too!

Is anyone here running a 2x Peak setup?
The more time I’ve spent with the Peak, the better it’s got and the more I think having a second one would be great…

You’d probably buy a Summit instead, no? Basically two peaks, but with better integration and features than just running two separate ones.

Not really, I don’t want the keyboard, and as I already have the Peak adding another makes more sense to me.

Cool, you should do it then! And let us know how it goes

I think it’s logical if you want ”more of the same” (admittedly wide) spectrum of sounds, I think it’s actually wise to double down on a synth you know and really like. If you’re getting A LOT of mileage out of it, that is.

I’d probably work with loopers or overdubs myself or get a smaller, cheaper, maybe more specialised synth that could excel in some of the things Peak does (like a Micromonsta for pads, although it can do a lot of other things as well) - but if you’re set on doing a lot of things live and really love everything about the Peak, I can definitely see the point.

Yes, it feels so instinctive to play/adjust, it’s quite easy to play blind, which is a massive bonus. I already use layers of it, but the flexibility of being able to adjust 2 of them simultaneously is appealing.
From looping, I also find that the Peak sounds great with the Peak… so that’s why I was curious if anyone had actually done it.

Patches that play themselves when you first switch to them.

Can you stop them so you can actually play them yourself?

Remove the modulation routings that go to the vca level. Those makes all oscillators play as soon as you select those patches.

Some Peak bass, sounds pretty tasty sidechained to a sample of a vinyl record player acting as a kind of pseudo kick

The ones from Jogging House (Boboter here on the forum) are also excellent.

Does anyone know of Peak can pass USB midi in to din midi thru?

Is anyone familiar with the Roland MC 101 or 707 grooveboxes?

Could the animate buttons on Peak do similar things to the “scatter” on the Roland MC ?

The animate buttons are able to turn modulation routings on/off. So whatever you can set up in the mod matrix, you can turn on/off momentarily with the animate 1 and 2 buttons.

The peak can’t do stutter or beat repeat effects that are based on sampling, but you could use LFOs to do some rhythmic gating effects.

It can’t - I checked recently

Thanks, yeah, I figured it out too! :see_no_evil:

Hi guys!
Peak landed in my studio
How do u achieve a sync lead on it?

I mean the sync is different to the traditional way…

What is a sync lead?

No longer have a Peak but from memory you have to select a “sync” wave table and automate the index (and maybe pitch). I got sync sounds that I liked but never that sounded like 100% traditional sync.

Theres a V-Sync parameter in the Oscillator menu (one for each osc)
This behaves like a traditional sync but instead of using one of the three main oscillators for sync, it uses a “virtual” syncing oscillator.
This allows for independent sync’ing of all 3 oscillators.
You can modulate the sync amount from the Mod Matrix from what every you like. If you want to manually control the sync attach it to the Mod Wheel.
