The OctaEdit forums even has an entire sub-forum dedicated to the Library module.
The Library has full import/export capabilities. Basically anything can be stored in the Library. Every entry in the Library can be exported and then shared around, likewise a Library entry can be imported. There’s a whole bunch of logic in there that will cover anything you could possibly want (I hope)
So things like the “Crossfader Transition Trick” become trivial… setup once, then store in the Library… then just use and share that at will.
And OctaEdit ships with Libary entries out of the box… I’ll probably create a Project template for the “Crossfader Transition Trick” when I have some spare time…
Glad to see this progessing nicely, and looking forward to buying it.
A sampling mode would be killer, even as a separate app or add on, for batch sampling the OT is a bit cumbersome, so for that alone it would be a worthwhile addition possibly?
The last 10% is a killer… check, double checking and triple checking every single line of code and every function, action and parameter, again and again… fun times.
What kind of thing were you thinking of? Like live recording into sample slots… or ???
I sometimes think about rearranging my Samples in the Audio folder to get a better hold of my lib.
Question: Would it be possible to have a kind of filemanager with prehear functionality? If you move a file it reads through all the projectfiles and asks you if the sampleassignments should be updated to match the new location of the file?
Might want to do the Beat Repeat/Echo Freeze crossfader trick as another chestnut/example.
Another template to consider is a basic sampling from the inputs template. I don’t do this every day and when I have to, it’s five-ten minutes in the manual before I remember the manual is too academic for little things like this, then it’s over to YouTube where they have several minutes of academic intro before finally getting down to it. Make it real simple like, ‘press play to sample from inputs A/B, press Trig X to hear what you sampled’. Legions of befuddled newcomers and impatient longtimers will thank you.
About creating a Library template to store that configuration?
The effort is in doing the inital setup, after that recycling that template is a snip.
I just don’t have time to do it right now as deep in code review for full release… means checking every single line of code, control and parameter to try and deliver a bug free experience.

Yep just a public release of whats been advertised, would be nice

wells and bistles later[/quote]
The whole point, well, half the point of the Library is that everyone can share entries with everyone else; and I’ve even set up a subforum to facilitate that sharing.
If anyone is bored, they can create that template in an empty project in preparation, then it’s just two seconds to store it in the Library for later use…
Re: wells and bistles…
The screenshot you saw is/was just the working alpha version, she’s had a lick of paint (all over) and a shitload of new functionality, so wait till you see the final build version…
I need to check (done), double check (doing) and triple check (to do) every single control and every single line of code…
Release target is 99% bug free… Not that it has happened yet, but if I make a single typo or miscalculation, it can result in corrupt sets/projects… Something that I don’t think anyone wants to happen… so slow and steady or something like that.
Looking forward to the final OcatEdit… new to the forum and not long octatrack user…
Rusty, congrats on the idea and know-how on writing the code for OctaEdit…also, THANKS FOR DOING IT! I am one of many waiting to buy OctaEdit and I wish you all the best…I have no doubt that you will be successful with the release of OctaEdit… I know beta testing is over, but if you ever need a Mac user to test it, let me know.
Just have to say it’s criminal how little time I’ve put into Octa Edit. Been busy with some life shit, but Finally getting back to the studio and Octa Edit is just amazing. Really makes all the finicky saving and copying stuff easy, and it works fine on my Mac, easy to install. Highly reccomended everyone with an Octa picks up a copy when it drops.
Looks like a great tool for everything octatrack. I even think it can help octatrack users to figure out what’s in their octatrack. It’s another way to understand each menus. And of course, a great manager, etc.
I don’t like the black and white tho. Reminds me DOS. But it’s not very important.
