Off-topic chat about fun in Germany

…not the nicest city…but THE nicest people…!!!

nordish by nature is the driest and funniest humour to find here…
and former roots and hometown of the biggest hiphop meets electronicdancefloor punchline meme providers to find…deichkind,

while phillip, the guy who’s mostly in charge of their beats and sounddesign lives in berlin these days…

I found Hamburg nicer than Berlin. One of the nicest german cities I know

…well, well, well…kind of truu, too…hamburg has it’s huuuge harbour, the gate to the world since ever, while berlin has it’s roots in 13 independent villages on muddy soil, that grew into one same same but very different thing…

speaking of which…even the beatles learned their first skills in hamburg…so, guess ur right…

but once more back to deichkind…i really admire their beats, mind and skill set…these beats and sounddesign are simply top notch dope while their words coud’nt be more on spot and in time to nail what modern life is all about, what it feels like these days and where it’s at…they are also into peace and protest punchlines for the 21st century…like me…but unlike me, they got THE spicy humour and THE timeless phunkyness, make u think, make u smile AND EVEN DANCE…really the best “we” have to offer in modern music these days…

I lived near Saarbruken for a few years. I didnt find this fun:
Fleischkaese im Broetchen
However, I loved my time there, despite picking up the British equivalent of a Somerset/German accent

My Gran was from Germany and settled to the UK after the War. She used to make this and passed it on to my mum. This was our typical Sunday lunch when I was growing up. Loved it.

Started to go to Germany for city breaks with my wife and some friends. I think I ate it at least 8 times over 4 days, even in between other meals.

This and a dark beer = heaven for me.

Americans call this cannibal sandwich.
It’s pretty common in Germany. You’ll find it in every place where small snacks are sold. Bakeries, trainstations, even bars like in Cologne, where it is called (Der)Metthappen. Generally it’s called (Das) Mettbrötchen.
But I dig cannibal sandwich.
Usually it’s salt, pepper, onions and Mett (minced pork meat). It’s good with mustard, too.

Other good thing about germany is, that it’s close to every other cool country in Europe. Like Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Sweden… You can even go to Italy in a two hours flight or Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Norway, Finland, Iceland, UK, Scotland, Ireland…
Beautiful Switzerland or Austria are nearby. Poland, Czech Rep. or Slovakia… I mean, it could be worse.
We’ve got statutory health insurance, Einstürzende Neubauten, Kraftwerk, Neu and Can.
What more can one ask for?
Mountains and coast woods and cities… Man, we are blessed…
Only problem are those germans all over… but can’t have it all, can you?

In my book, they’re are not in the same league as the above mentioned. Not even in the league of the likes such as Scorpions…
But I liked their appearance in Lynch’s “Lost Highway” O.S.T.

That’s where I first heard Rammstein - it was a good way to do so.

Faust! That’s whose festivals I was playing at (or one version of Faust at least) near Lübeck.

Ever heard of Streetmark?

I somehow ended up making noise with a CD DJ and FX in a related live project called This Is Not Faust in London once - that was fun, especially being covered in hay by a leaf blower at the finale. Cluster were / are great and such nice people too.

Never heard of them - will investigate, ta.
