PULSAR-23 by SOMA

I find a few modules desirable for using with MIDI, so worth keeping once you’ve reached the end of the rainbow. Namely, a couple of hefty sequencing modules, then a couple of MIDI/CV modules required to use them with MIDI stuff. Possibly an envelope follower and a particular, specialized LFO utility module unless my MPC’s CV out will do what I want.

Apologize for the off topic but I gotta know more about the back story here if you would like to elaborate.

It might be relevant to my situation - I’m 90% in the box with Ableton and a large VST collection but I’m constantly tempted by the hands on experimental workflow of hardware synths and eurorack in particular. Kind of wary of making the jump since I’m aware of the endless money pit I might end up in.

Sorry, but your Modular Journey will require you to pass through the Endless Money Pit in order to reach the Fiscal Cliff and finally find out who you really are.

There is a quite affordable option to check out, whether modular is for you.

Try VCV Rack … it’s free … https://vcvrack.com/

You can build an excellent hardware setup for a fraction of the cost of modular. People like modular for the flexibility and unique sequencing it offers. If you do spend your life savings on modular, take comfort in the fact that you’ll probably be able to sell most of your gear back at cost if you buy used, should you decide its not for you

Does anyone use a Pulsar23 with an OT ? Can’t really make them in sync after stopping the OT transport. The looper doesn’t reset properly. Any obvious answer ?
If not I’ll try to dedicate a cue output and a reset track loaded with an impulse sample.

What if you sacrifice one midi track on the OT. Just send one note on the first trig then go to your midi learn section on the Pulsar and midi learn that note. Connect that to your reset on the Pulsar. Maybe that will work?

I also recommend VCVRack/miRack for exploring modular options.

There are other modular emulators but VCV is free and supports a fair number of popular Eurorack modules in virtual form. Thus, it’s a way of at least trying out virtual Eurorack systems to see if any might be for you.

It does work well indeed ! Thanks.
However, I’d rather keep the CV converters for other stuff.

The idea of using VCV rack to try modular, is like watching porn to try sex. Sort of

Like watching porn with actors you aren’t even attracted to in my case, because the modules I’m interested in, aren’t available there.

Yeah, that is a downside of VCVRack, unless you come up with a creative way to substitute for modules you’re interested in.

Well, it was suggested because you were concerned about falling into the modular money pit. If you don’t like that suggestion, then I guess you’re doomed to fall in.

I think i’ll dip my toes with some semi-modulars like Pulsar or a Neutron.

Just wanted to share my love for this beast. Here is this morning’s session. Nothing revolutionary but loads of fun. One-shot recording, no effects.

I know it’s not the best place to do it, but I’d like to know from people who tested and sold it, why did you take that decision.

Yes, so I could buy it again in a different color (Can only afford one).
