Standalone Maschine+

Is this the Maschine+ killer?

I would buy Maschine X for the name.

Considering how long Maschine has been around, this would make it the most mature stand alone box out there when it’s released. It’s been around for years, after all.

I won’t be going for this, I’m quite happy with my setup, but I’ll be eyeing any song mode abilities it has as well as seeing if streams samples from the SD card. If it does these things well, I’ll move from “content” to “curious”.

Maschine has the best song mode of any groovebox currently out - and with Clips coming it will be far ahead.

Right. Now I’m curious. Thank you.

I consider the Deluge song mode (the Arranger) to be the greatest one out there, so that’s my bar. But I’m okay with the one on the Toraiz SP-16. I don’t ask for much

Reading the CDM comments now. Not to have a go at the Elektronauts forum, but while there’s less traffic there, it is a more informed discussion, if one wants to know more what this is about. Peter seems to been in direct touch with the product team. A couple of Force owners there who consider swapping to Maschine now.

Also, from what I’m hearing from the Maschine synths, they really blow Akai’s own software out of the water.

How can anyone looking for a stand alone solution, not like what NI’s doing here? I don’t get it.

Deluge has a great arranger. Deluge’s arranger is much more “linear” and similar to Ableton, which is an achievement for a Groovebox.

Machines current arranger is more pattern based, but has the concept of scenes and sections that works well for repeating structures. Inserting new sections and automatically moving content, rearranging whole sections, etc is better than deluge. With clips, the “linear” workflow will then be on-par with Deluge and overall better imho. I love the Deluge btw.

(To be fair, the OT song mode with per section mutes is something I really miss)

Thanks. Okay, this sounds interesting. If the on-board synths are solid - and I don’t think the Akai synths are, and I think the Deluge synths are if you’re using them the right way, due to their character, which I kind of like - then I’m in trouble.

It’d have to further compare with the SP-16 output quality and also stream samples from the SD-card. Or maybe not. I noticed the RAM was pretty generous, so perhaps in practice, it’ll never be an issue anyway.

I think because nobody bought any of the Akai units for their internal plugins or sample library, most people with priorities outside of the functions and workflow and midi sequencer have gone the maschine route in my experience. Most people who bought maschine but not for the library content or expansions have generally been the higher number of disappointed within the base.

one of these beatmachines can be a success without the plugins and one definitely cannot.

I don’t follow. So the Maschine without the plugs is no good? While the Akai without the on-board stuff would be, because it does a lot of other things really cool?

So essentially, the more I’d like the onboard synths and sounds of the Maschine, the more likely I am to appreciate it and overlook its less advanced song features?

I don’t like the Akai workflow at all, though. So if it comes down to preference on that, I’m curious to try out the Maschine if only for the reason I’ve never tried it before, in any context.

I should add that I’m quite happy with the Toraiz SP-16 sequencer, it does what I need, so as long as it’s on part with that, I’m good.

yep, that about sums it up… the plugins on the mpc and the sample library are not even an after thought… it’s common to find people trying to get them off the hard drive without causing problems

No. You only read from haters. The „normal“ people wont post every fart.

Thanks, yes, that sort of matches what I’ve heard from other places.

I don’t need much from a sequencer or a song mode, I just need the right stuff  not a lot of stuff.

I’m still interested in getting one if they come out with a mini version, if they add Ableton export.

The Ni forum is very unpleasant. It is diffucult to ask something of talk About music. There is a lack of respect towards ni and among each other.

to be fair though, the NI Maschine base has been through allot

I agree. If it wasn’t for other Elektron users who already use Maschine I wouldn’t have gotten a fair answer on basic questions

another product that is like all the other products.
Nothing new, nothing unique.
Companies don’t even try to do something like an Octatrack refresh.
Anyone, please take the unique Octatrack features and cram them in a box.
Make it to be a product of 2020. Please.
A modern OT clone would be nice with Fx from the present and please keep the usage paradigma.
Anyone? Bueller?
