Syntakt 1.00 : bug reports

Anyone had any issues with Overbridge and this thing? On Track 9 it plays back random pitches and lengths of what ever sound is on the track, no matter what pattern I load up

Has anyone had issues where things feel a little distorted after using it with Overbridge?

It all sounds great through OB but if I shut things down and just boot up and use the ST I find everything sounds kind of distorted. Like itā€™s been pushed up into the red sort of thing. Power cycling and reloading the projects doesnā€™t fix. The only thing that seems to work is plugging it back into OB after which I can then shut down the Mac and things all sound find again.

Gain staging? Are you producing your Tracks with OB or first with ST? The sound in OB tends to be quieter so maybe you boost a little bit too much when using OB and it transcends in a distorted Track when listened directly with ST.

Anyone knows if the switching metronome on/off using key combo is different on Syntakt than on Digitone by design or that a bug? The behaviour is exactly reversed:
1.syntakt - [func] + SHORT press [ptn] to turn on metronome without entering metronome menu
2.digitone - [func] + LONG press [ptn] to turn on metronome without entering metronome menu

ST first then recording through OB.

If I reconnect to OB then close the laptop down/disconnect everything sounds as it should again.

It could all be me doing something a little daft but 99% certain Iā€™m not

I had an issue last night. I was assigning parameters to the mod wheel, and when i selected PITCH, it started a sustained high pitched tone that continued after i stopped the pattern playing.
I tried hitting double stop as i thought it might be a feedback loop in the delay or something, but it persisted.
I had to turn the machine off and on to stop it.
Itā€™s not a major issue, but could be annoying during a live set.

I experienced this same issue using @x0xā€™s project file which had some params assigned to the velocity mod. I wonder if thereā€™s a wider-spread issue with the modulation assignments at the moment. I feel like it might be slightly hard to recreate exactly each time though.

Iā€™m sure itā€™s already on someoneā€™s list somewhere, but when connected using overbridge, like the DT and DN, thereā€™s no click track (itā€™s easier than ever to use a track as a metronome with the ST but itā€™s still kinda a pain).

first post!

is anyone else experiencing no midi clock out of sync b port?

So if you use the analog DUAL VCO and turn the OSC 2 on only (the sub) and put the decay to max, there is a nasty click at the start of every note. that doesnā€™t really work very well. if you want to play a sub bass with strong sustain, you canā€™t really do that without a nasty click. So basically you cant use the analog vco for sub bass with sustaining bass because its very likely when you play the next note you will get a bad click. I know this is reported as not a bug, but it basically makes the sub bass (as its often used in modern music today like 808 sustained bass style) unuseable.

if you want to play the sub bass without a click, you have to turn the decay on the SYN page to nearly zero. So then you have more like a kick drum or a short stab, instead of a cool sustained drone sub.

when I use the sub bass on any other synth I own, no matter what the decay is, there is no click. So its sort of odd.

Yes. This is not a mistake. Itā€™s midi thru. See manual.

Midi thru only means that what is coming from midi in is redirected directly.

I have what I hope is a stupid question with an obvious answerā€¦

For most machines changing panning only would pan left, but panning right mutes the sound.

Using Syntakt with overbrdge and panning via the plug-in then works as expected.

Is this normal? DT doesnā€™t have this problem so Iā€™m a bit lost on how it could be fixed

This is not normal. Have you checked your cables? Do you observe the same thing with headphones?

Unfortunately it canā€™t be the cables because the digital hats pan as expected. Itā€™s been the same across projects too.

Iā€™ll dig deeper now that I know this isnā€™t normal.

Try headphones with no other connections as suggested and TR cables on outs to test those next if headphones appear okay. There is one report of a potentiometer issue that might relate to this. Simplify the test first and disconnect midi and usb first.

Sounds like it must be a hardware fault. Althoughā€¦ have you tried a new project? Or power off / power on ?

There seems to be a bug around keyboard fold and some scales.
repro:

  1. select an SY Dual VCO machine
  2. Select Dorian. Select E7 (2 octaves up). Select keyboard fold ON
  3. Play a note.

Notice that every note played actually plays a C note and doesnā€™t go up or down the scale.

Thank you and of course, @LyingDalai @bibenu - Resolved: Long fucking week and Iā€™m fixing my ratā€™s nest of cables now. I had Syntakt going through Digitaktā€™s input and the Digitakt to the mixer.

Syntakt works as expected. I guess I was going to sample 0-Coast through Syntaktā€™s FX track and forgot I set it up this way.

Seriously itā€™s been a long week peppered in with stupidity like this. Iā€™m gonna take a nap. Get outside and start fresh.

Is this a keyboard transposition issue?

If you are already shifted to the highest octave, the keys top out and everything above will just be a C, try pressing the down arrow a few times and see if the note changes?
