I like that! Love those bending chords a few minutes in. Somewhat similar to the Steevio stuff I think.

Love the bouncy house beat, but with the techy sounds. I’ll be listening to this on my drive home.

Thanks for all these recommendations!

Regarding the terminology, I just assumed it meant thinking as opposed to dancing, not as opposed to being unintelligent

That’s it more or less.

It’s all still quite danceable, but yes, I was thinking the sorts of things that are still techy but nice to listen to.

The hard stuff can also be quite thought provoking, well thought out, and well made, it’s just that if I’m working, or sitting back with headphones, it’s a little less conducive (at least in those situations)

That said I still sit and listen to Meshuggah and Vektor sometimes, so it’s all relative really.

This radio station does venture toward the hard stuff a little but I still think it’s mostly in keeping with the spirit of this thread:

I suppose this is ‘trance’ but again, I feel like it fits nicely with the vibe in here:

About genre classification minutiae, who has the time? As far as music which is made by electronic means goes, all I listened to growing up was a lot of hiphop and maybe a bit of old school electro (which I thought was pretty much just up tempo instrumental hiphop at the time). I only started paying attention to things of a more techno flavor fairly recently. So to me if it has a four on the floor kick and the tempo falls between 100 and 150 it’s definitely some variety of techno. Under 100 and I feel like we’re getting into something different and I wouldn’t presume to know what to call it. If it goes over 150 I usually just call it “music I don’t want to listen to” :0)

And since the captain of this ship said thinkin electro is on the table I will present you all with this one:

Any of NULLPTR’s stuff is a good fit I think but that’s my favorite album.

And now I don’t understand the thread title. Again. :joy:

Nice! I like that. It has hints of FSOL Lifeforms to it.

The title of this thread made me remember Background (early 2000’s label).
