The beer thread

I’ve got the Brewdog advent calendar this year. Yesterday’s offering was this.

It was revolting.

That looks like the worst beer ever.

Most British ale is usually between about 3-4%, excluding IPAs, which are mostly anything from about 5-7%. Obviously there’s all the piss water lagers at various volumes.

The sudden global fashion for IPA has created a bit of a heightened expectation of alcohol volume in beer, there’s some really decent beer over here in the 3-4% bracket, which is kinda the norm for proper, non-IPA ales.

I’ve certainly not had worse this year.

I love marmite. But as it turns out, not in my beer.

Christ. No.

Are there any good beer testing websites you can recommend?

Why are people intent on ruining beer?

Not exactly sure what you mean by a “beer testing website”, but I tend to look at BeerAdvocate if I’m standing in front of something new in the supermarket, or looking at a bar’s current tap list. As with most crowd-sourced rating sites, it’s a mixed bag, but reading through people’s tasting notes usually gives me some information.

I’m playing a gig tonight and the venue has its own on site brewery. Think I’m looking forward to enjoying the beer almost more than the gig
