The Digitakt Feature Request Thread

Even a way all unused samples could be somehow highlighted or flagged up would be cool.

Hey all, my first post here in several years! Iā€™m a longtime OT user - I added a Digitakt a couple years ago but unfortunately it has spent that time on the shelf collecting dust as I continue waiting for the ability to use mod wheel on keyboard controller into DT and DT pass that on to external synths. Is this really STILL not a feature theyā€™ve implemented? If anyone knows a current status on that please let me know. I love the Elektron sequencer, which is why Iā€™ve held on to it this longā€¦but this missing feature is probably a now deal breaker for me. I feel like Iā€™ve given them two years to figure it out. I suppose I should get the message, that they no longer care about this???

Just merge the Thru and the Out, then set the mod wheel to send on whichever MIDI channel your synth is on, and what you want will work properly. Itā€™s a very easy task. Iā€™m wishing that it did this without a workaround too, but it definitely hasnā€™t kept me from using my Digitakt!!

Thanks for the workaround Hawk, Iā€™ll definitely give this a try! I have 12 hardware synths in my midi chain/setup, each on their own channel so hopefully wonā€™t be too much of a booger to set up on the DT, but nonetheless something else to try at least! Thanks again

You set the MIDI channel that the mod wheel transmits on from your controller keyboard, not on the DT itself. You will need to set the controller keyboard to also transmit on the Digitakt auto channel. I just made a profile for my controller for each of my external synths with the keys set to transmit data on the MIDI channel that I set my DT auto channel to, and the mod wheel and pitch bend set to transmit on the channel that the synth is set to. That way you will be able to play the synth from your controller keyboard with mod wheel and pitch bend functionality intact, while retaining the ability to record your live play into the DT sequencer.

A way to remove midi tracks and add sample tracks. I loved the DT, but I donā€™t need all those midi tracks. If there was a way I could set how many midi tracks I have per project thatā€™d be awesome.

Iā€™m assuming that would require more processing power so itā€™s wishful thinking unless a MK2 version was released

I do :slightly_smiling_face:

This thing is called the Machinedrum.

True true, but with the screen and workflow of the DT thatā€™d be killer

Off course. I was just being nostalgic.

It only has 8 monophonic audio channels. I guess that would still be nice if you wanted to switch between two sounds on each channel though. That would make patterns MUCH more playable.

What would be REALLY cool would be if Elektron would open-source the firm ware at the end of life, then the community could go nuts with improvements

It would be cool to have the option for the playhead to play relative to the start point (including live updates to the start point from the LFO or manual sweeping). Obviously not as a default, but this could result in some really interesting, I think.

yo first post, iā€™ve been lurking for a hot minute. feel like this may have been suggested already but individual track scaling would be so dope. single pattern chord progressions and being able to stretch drum patterns using retrigs and conditional trigs would give individual patterns much more diversity and power than is already available. /two cents

I might be mistaken, but Iā€™m pretty sure DT can do this as of the latest firmware.

You can have a master pattern length, channel length, individual track length, and you can adjust scale per track in a 1/8, 1/4, 3/4, etc. type fashion up to x2. I may be misunderstanding your concept or how that worked in practice (never used it much till right before I had to sell it) so forgive me if Iā€™m off the mark.

Oh dawg you are golden, this is 100% in my favorite category of feature requests for the DT, the ones which have already been granted! It really is an awesome feature, I use the scaling options in everything I do on the DT. Hereā€™s a bonus picture of the DT on the plane with me today, got down and doighty on some tracks mid-flight! Get at that update, itā€™s a big one.
