Vote on Overbridge!

Curious if you wouldn’t mind posting a screen shot of a waveform and how it lines up to the grid when OB syncs your machines? Such as a kick pattern or something.

I only ask because I wonder if I’m just tripping. I hear people say their sync is rock solid and I’m interested to see what they mean by that.

When I record my machines into Ableton via sync, there’s always a little gap between the grid and say, the first transient of the kick.

No worries if you don’t have the time or don’t feel like it, totally understand.

Thanks and sorry for the discussion - just curious. You can PM me as well.

Right. As a Logic user I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and the rest of 2015 to at least have it on par with where Live is now. But after that at some point customers feel misled and lose trust in the company. I’d hate to come on here one day and people start comparing Elektron to Arturia.

+1 All this OB dev time has hurt the dev time available to make the RYTM the drum machine it should be.

Crazy idea, how about hiring some new devs? Always seemed weird to me that OB would poach everyone from the software division.

Was it ever clear that it was actually the case that OB had “poached” all available dev resources?

This forum has serious issues with people second guessing (a) how Elektron choose to structure their internal operations and (b) what’s actually possible or feasible in the machines.

I might add to that © complaining that everything hasn’t been done to their own personal specifications and schedule. As much as people might be fully convinced that their desired new feature is essential and technically possible, what can and should be implemented in the machines is a decision only Elektron engineers can make.

Unless one of you want to make a JJOS for Elektrons, that is.

And after all the whining, it appears that fairly major updates are forthcoming for A4 and RYTM sequencers at least, developed alongside (and possibly to complement) Overbridge: Tarekith hints at new AR sequencer features

No word on the potentially life-changing ring mod kick drum for my RYTM, though. But all in all I think I’ll get by.

I understand that OT users may be upset that they’re going to be limited to bug fixes, but ultimately the machine is nearly 5 years old - you’d have to expect that its’ OS and feature set would now be as mature as it’s ever likely to be. Don’t think it’s reasonable to expect further development into perpetuity

So, can we please drop the whole “Overbridge stopped all development on the hardware - because I personally think that computers smell all Elektron users clearly agree that OB is useless - why hasn’t my idea for an artificially intelligent drum machine capable of making me coffee been implemented already - are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet - weh weh weh” stuff? It got old a very long time ago.

I think that Overbridge is a great idea, even though I don’t own any of AF/AK or AR, but it’s interesting to:
[ul]
[li]compare Elektron’s output of OS updates before and after they publicly announced Overbridge, and[/li]
[li]compare the names on the respective design and development credits for the recent instruments and for Overbridge.[/li]

Maybe you were still in nappies when the MD and MnM development was forthwith, certainly would seem so with the petulant ‘i’m okay’ blather.

Just thinking about my dark trinity set-up.

It seems there are no more major OS updates for the Octatrack anymore… I see a sampler as a evolving instrument and with the Octatrack no more evolution…

So the future path of Elektron is Overbridge and now there is Push 2 for Ableton Live and the focus of Elektron is on Ableton Live so it might be interesting to replace the Octatrack for Push 2 with Ableton live.

Why? With sampling i like more visual feedback, the Octatrack display really lacks on that point compared with Push 2. And Ableton Live is more flexible for future software updates or even a next generation of Push from evolving point of view, this is a big plus for me and i have no problem to pay for that evolution!

So now i am thinking of Analog Four/Rytm Overbridge with Push 2 and Ableton Live .

But i want Ableton Live very basic with just the Sampler and Max for Live and i have no interest in a 55GB sound library… i want to choose or make the sounds that i need!

Bottomline, maybe a ‘Pro’ for Overbridge but i have to do some research on Push 2 Ableton Live to see if this plan has the potential that i want!

Laughing at “petulant”, tbh. Suppose that if being sick of every. single. overbridge. thread. descending into a fresh round of complaining makes me petulant, then so be it.

Anyway, Push 1 + Rytm + A4 has been my trinity for a while.

Toyed with the idea of getting an OT for a bit but came to the conclusion that it didn’t really offer me anything that I don’t already have - I’m comfortable with Live and can use the A4’s CV track if I feel like using the Elektron sequencer with other gear.

Use my old MPC1000 for the rare occasions that I want to work 100% OTB, but I find that I inevitably end up going back to Live, for me it’s much quicker and more intuitive. Even at that still thinking of getting an OT as a solution for playing live shows and sound mangling, though.

Live 9.5 has really improved the mapping of plugin parameters to my Push, but I still supplement it with Touchable/Touchosc on my iPad for hands on control and visual feedback. Even with the improved display, I don’t see Push 2 changing that.

I have Live 9 Suite - haven’t even downloaded the sample library, but I kinda think that the extra instruments (Sampler, Operator, Analog and especially Collision) and max devices are worth the extra cash. Just started experimenting with using the Max device to provide additional LFOs for my Elektrons before El Cap broke OB, but it seems to offer a lot of potential.

A little ironic that Elektron only cater to Live users for overbridge and there is so much talk of Elektron users selling their machines for Push 2.

Pro!

I can create new sounds and actually see the parameters. The A4 screen is too small for me but with OB that huge problem is solved for me.

I have a Push 2 with 9 other analog synths besides the A4.
With the new OB 1.10 version things will be pretty much where i wanted them when i bought the A4 and heard of OB.

Very happy with OB!

Pro

OB was a big reason I bought these machines.

This still going?

Uhhh, PRO because I got to put the $500 I saved on an audio interface with more inputs into my honeymoon fund.

hahaha Adam, good point!

PRO for editing sence and performance macros for the AR in OB
