As I already wrote I really like the sounds and the rhythms of Board of Canada. I discovered them in this forum, so…thank you.
Do you know other bands or artists that make music similar to BoC?
Thank you

Exactly like BoC no but with a similar mood, you can check on Plaid, Bola, Pye Corner Audio (particulary the Black Mill Tapes albums).
I’m sure there is more but I don’t remember all.
Here’s a few…
The most similar would be Christ. . He was the third member of BoC up to Twoism
Milieu
MrsJynx
Bibio
Kelpe
Ochre
Tycho (his first two)
(I can’t post his stuff tho. He bit so hard, and wouldn’t acknowledge BOC as an influence among his list of influences it was ridiculous.)
There’s a bunch more clones, but memory fails me right now. I’ll add them if they pop in.
But really…no one else really sounds the same. BoC were so unique.
Adding…
Ten and Tracer
Black Moth Super Rainbow
Freescha
Helios
clocolan is well worth a listen:
Check out The Advisory Circle.
Its a great mixtape!
“Civil defence…is common sense…”
Love that one. Very BOC sounding synth.
I’m really afraid clicking any of your links… I know most of the artists … and thus am predicting those tracks suffice to belong to the genre IDM but won’t reflect the nostalgic sad smooth aestethics of BoC.
In fact project null was the first artist I’ve come across that actually sounds like it is BoC.
Project Null is excellent. Although the influence is audibly there, he still sounds sufficiently like himself
You may know them…they started as clones and gave up on that vibe. Went more generic IDM later on so they would actually get interest.
But they started as hard bites. Test those out.
(Edit): but yes…none can match.
Suggesting BoC alternatives is an exercise in futility. They are one of a kind. IMO, of course.
A classic used by Adam Curtis documentary maker who uses lots of great music and talks about the use behavioural science to control populations.
As an indication of how truly old I am, every time I see this topic resurface, I am reminded of the “Where is Beatles band?” letters attributed to Samuel K. Amphong that were published in NME in the '80’s…
The Rutles took over the Beatles
Amazing that Tycho wouldn’t acknowledge the influence!! That first album the most blatant copy of BOCs style I’ve ever heard.
