I’m surprised no one proposed Octadad (The Messy Desk) yet. I like his low key way of presenting things
He’s already on the list somewhere above.
Well, I must have missed that. Lots of great suggestions here. I’m curious to see who’s going to present OT3 etc.
James Hoffman & Hames Joffman:
- Good mixture of scientific precision, humor, aesthetics, and a musical-rhythmic sensibility to his videos
- Also has published an electronica album
- Probably already owns all the Elektrons and a pair of 1200s
It would be fun if he foregrounded the Elektron reviews / tutorials while occasionally stepping back to make himself a coffee drink. IDK if Hames Joffman is him or a fan edit, but whoever makes those videos should be hired as well.
Lizzo and Hoffman would make an amazing duo.
I would love to listen to James Hoffman’s Dawless jams while enjoying a nice pourover.
My thought is that one can make good electronica with the most simple sequencing equipment possible, elektrons are overkill for a lot of it. What i would really love to see is Elektrons being put through their paces in ways you couldnt do with 80s Roland’s and a little bit of probability. I’m being personally picky and a little dismissive, i know, but when I hear something truly only possible with elektrons in the wild, I’m always suprised that the company apparently sees it as fringe tricks, and not flagship uses for their instruments. Like, why is my random friends 6 year old, 20 second long Octatrack video on Instagram more impressive than almost any influencer video or presentation being officially promoted? I know this is subjective but it seems like a missed opportunity when they hire people who just make normal beats you can do on anything
To be fair, these are the people you need to advertise to if you want to make money.
I wonder why no one mentioned her yet, but I think Elin Piel did a fantastic job presenting the Syntakt
Dakim
while we are over here talking all this nonsense they already got the new guy and recorded the octatrack mk3 video…
No doubt about it. I realize how i naive I sound. It just feels like they have gone overboard distancing themselves from “elektrons are too complicated and only good for extreme IDM”. I know it’s been good for the company.
Thomas Dolby
easy, Thom Yorke.
someone multi-lingual.
otherwise… don’t really care.
i think watched all the hector videos when i had an octatrack just for all the shortcuts in learning my way around and that was the most helpful thing i’ve seen in regards to an elektron video. i think that was hector?? i can’t remember really.
i think they should just do video manuals sort of how cycling74 did the “did you know?” series about a bunch of stuff in Max
What products?
I think it was the Elektron (Octatrack) Know-How series.
Totally agree with you, delkinesis!
demoers should be people of great musical inspiration in general and also Making a singular use of the elektron gear. I often miss this aspect in demos
