I ordered a silver one.
Itās not foolish, or a super calculated risk, we know that parts have been super backordered for every single manufacturer, and the latest estimate we have that Abstrakt has been provided suggests October. Once the full BOM is available for assembly it wouldnāt be long after.
Again, get why people are cranky about estimates being blown past (and only speaking for myself here) but with context of the time i can manage my own expectations.
I think heāll start building in Oct/Nov if those vendor estimates hold true, but I wouldnāt be surprised if it pushes back a couple of months from there. Personally, Iām not expecting a shipping notice until late Q1 earliest or realistically Q2, but this time next year wouldnāt be completely out of the ballpark either. Iām not mad or disappointed, I went into this fully knowing what to expect. āIt is what it isā at this point.
What remains utterly inexcusable is the overall lack of communication for months at a time. One update doesnāt suffice. It takes less than 5 min to snap a couple random pics and send out a quick 4-5 sentence paragraph to a mailing list even if itās just to really say thereās no new information. Maybe a 2-3 min video posted via unlisted link to YouTube like heās done in the past. There should be a minimum of an update every month. Just show that youāre working on something. That alone would placate many people and show some respect and gratitude to his customer base.
He sometimes doesnāt respond to actual support queries, like a brand new item that has problems. So good luck being kept up to date beforehand.
Thanks, but Iām all too aware. Iāve been following this company for several years now and have seen countless (endless) complaints. Doesnāt answer emails, doesnāt return calls, keeps repair units for months at a time with no status. Heāll randomly answer the odd email or phone call and thatās it.
I have zero expectations the situation will magically change, but Iāll still give my opinion on it.
Iām an Avalon user since 2018 and had trouble with the resonance Poti (common with this batch). My service inquiry had zilch response by Abstrakt. I was lucky that schneiders laden did support for them, on my invoice, as they were selling them back then.
If somebody has problems nowadays and struggle to get support, try schneiders. Maybe their service staff has still the experience and could handle the repair.
He isnāt DB Cooper, surely there has to be a way to get ahold of him and get answers more reliably! Right? Right!?!
I don`t know who DB Cooper is and had to google him up.
DB Cooper isnāt found until todayā¦right? right!?!
So it is, as it goes for communication with customers, support etc. by Abstrakt instruments ā¦ sadly. The Avalon itself is one of a kind , too.
I watched some of the official Abstrakt videos yesterday. The Avalon sequencer really seems to have some sneaky good features. Live recording the arp is a cool way to alter a sequence. I also think itās really cool that you can turn steps off without losing their data. This allows you to build a build up a busy sequence, then strip it back to something more sparse, then build it back up again. I canāt think of too many other sequencers that work this way (maybe the pro3?)
Looking at todayās date it seems preorders should (hopefully) have some traction in a month or two, contingent on parts availability of course. No new updates from Abstrakt yet, of course. Just going off of the last update.
Analog 4 has the step mute sequencer mode which letās you sort of work that way. It definitely can be fun when sequencers work that way.
I think Iāve said it before but I was never that into the 303 sound but got an avalon cause I thought it was a well made with lots of cool useful features. I saw the light re 303s once I had it.
Iād like to see Abstrakt do like a 2-3 osc mono.
I was really impressed when trying one in Schneidersladen. Just sounds, feels and looks like the quality instrument it is.
Totally agree re: poor communications as others have mentioned - Iād seen a lot of complaints before ordering so knew what I was getting myself into, and am now just looking forward to receiving it whenever itās ready.
Cirklon can do this - Iād not thought to use it to build up and into a busy pattern, good idea
New batch?!
Is it shipping?
Would be nice if I could find the ladder filter.
No Iām very sorryā¦
