No WAY!
If thats the price, they will sell this hotter than hot cakes.
Even $2500 to $3000 is a good price for this.
Espceially if it has full MPC OS in it.

Maybe it will be a loss leader for akai where people who buy this end up buying expansions. Thatās how you can make the profit margin back. If it is priced at 1899 and it has an ensoniq feel to sampling sounds then Akai is out for blood
Iām skeptical of that price point as chips are not readily available and even MPC one went up in price.
I know loads of people have been asking for a MPC Keys so there is no way it doesnāt sell.
Good point as expansions do basically print them money now.
Has anyone ever consolidated Seqs from a bunch of MPC projects into one āmasterā project for live performance?
Looking for tips and advice for the best processā¦ and wondering if thereās anything I need to beware of.
It might well be best to wait for this setlist feature to drop before going to all that effort but if I was gonna do that Iād be inclined to plan it out on paper first if not just build my entire set within one project from the start. I think it would be a headache to rebuild an existing set beyond arranging resampled loops, the less the better. Depends how much control you want to maintain. Less points of failure
Yes, I have been thinking about that little glimpse of swapping projects on the fly in the recent update reveal videoā¦ youāre probably right, I should hang on for that and work on them individually in the meantime.
Iāll have 4 weeks from the new update to the first live show I have to do, should be enough time to get comfortable with it.
Hereās a question - I got some kits from mpc-samples.com and on some of the pads, every fourth hit is a slightly different sound. How do they do that?
Layering (you can layer 4 samples per pad in a drum program) and round robin Iād say.
Question. If I have a 32 bar sequence and I want to edit bar 25 with the Step Sequencer, is there a quick way to get there?
Or do I really have to advance one bar at a time in the Step Sequencer page?
Thanks!
Theyāre called cycle kits, thereās some good tutorials on YouTube which show how to create themā¦ pretty straightforward once you know howā¦
Really cool, cheers!
I just came across a time capsule of people talking about the 4000 like almost 20 years ago. Itās a fun read. People just donāt make comments like this anymore lmao
Oh!
Which kits did you get?
Hmm, just wondering you would edit a 25 bar loop in the step sequencer?
You can use the regular sequencer, they control the same midi data.
I just want to edit a bar or two somewhere other than the first or second bar. The step sequencer allows me to edit specific drums - I only want to see one drum versus all the drums on that track. Itās cleaner, easier to navigate. etc
Got it, yeah Iām no expert on the step sequencer, but AFAIC you have to click the little buttons on the touch screen to move between bars.
Would love to use it more myself but that was a turnoff for me since I like to use physical buttons as much as I can.
I do use it a lot for 1 āpageā loops though. And when they drop conditional notes you could even get pretty far on that.
Iām hyped on the conditional notes.
My interest in editing longer sequences with the Step Sequencer comes from my new found love of recording Mutes into long sequences. I want to go back in and do detailed editing after recording a performance.
Who knows. Maybe one day weāll get better Step Sequencing options
I went to for the piano and organ packs, which are really good and picked up the live break bundle and some of the free drum sets as well. Havenāt spent much time with them yet but thereās some good sounds. Getting some good trip hop feelings from them
Sounds like a nice workflow. Planning to check out longer sequences as well for arrangement.
Yeah that would be amazing for sure. The Step sequencer is like a million times nicer than the Piano roll for drums and percussive stuff imo. To add steps and hit the pads with velocity at the same time is pretty dope
