It has.
Yaā¦but Iāve always wonderedā¦is the warning plug specific, or would disabling it not warn me when something I could be adding but now wonāt because itās not letting me know (if that makes sense)
I like keeping stuff up to date.
I just think itās lame they would force a warning on you for stuff you donāt need or want
I donāt remember who was whining about the direction AKAI is going. But Iām starting to lean in their direction. I fear, as much as I love(d) my Live, I may start moaning about it.
If they wanna sell stuff like plugs etc, good on them. But donāt embed errors or prompts for people that donāt want that stuff. I mean that is enough to make me wanna dump it.
I guess another way to put itā¦if itās not part of the essential firmwareā¦donāt make it seem like it is by hitting us with missing files errors. Feels like a cheap selling tactic.
Are you on an MPC One?
When I updated (Live 2), thereās a login to the inMusic account within the MPC itselfā¦ once you do that, thereās an āActivate Pluginsā option. From there you can add them in Trial mode, or purchase them.
I donāt think Iām going to bother with them, in case I do like them! Even if I like OP-4, $150 is a piss take.
Live (orig)
Iāve not connected it to wifi
But you can?
If yes, go that routeā¦ sounds like the other way is a ball ache.
OK, so I tried the new synths. Well, Fabric XL and that 4OP FM synth, they are full-fledged proper synths and not romplers. They are good. Way better than I expected. Enable that Amp sim, and they sound deep and punchy and lush. Also, adding the fact that you can do keyboard splits and multitimbral layers, well, now strangely, MPC is also a proper high-end keyboard synth.
The price is still a bit to high for a hardware āDLCā, but maybe considering theyāre not rompler toys and actually open new horizons for this instrument itās kind of understandable.
Regarding the new romplers, theyāre way better than what we had so far. But they load longer. Itās a bit annoying sometimes. But now, theyāre up to par with NI and Arturia IMO.
The overall free part of the update is cool and I really dig sounds browser, but I feel it also adds another layer of complexity to an already, letās say, sophisticated interface. Plugins are nice, granular one is much more usable, sequencer additions are also cool.
Oh, and I encountered a few bugs. Not sure if they related, but yeah. Weāll see if they wonāt become joy killers and letās hope that they will eventually get fixed.
Overall, this is a good update. MPC might be the coolest DAWless thing on the market todayā¦
Agree entirely with the above.
I bought the same plug-ins, as I really needed my X to be a complete workstation. Some of the free plug-ins just didnāt cut it and I couldnāt get away from a nagging doubt about them.
I wouldnāt have sold the X, but it really has become everything i realistically need from a workstation.
Definitely the price of the plugins is to justify the pricing of the Keys since it comes onboard with it.
Just to clarify something, Fabric XL is a Rompler though, right? It uses samples, does it not?
Yeah i think Andy Mac said it used multisamples. Which means it must be that good for people to confuse it with synthesis
For sure. These plugins will stay expensive until the the MPC Key launch window is over, but after that they will surely start appearing in the regular sales rotation.
I used to own a Korg Oasys.
This isnāt as good as that, but itās still good and in the context of the Mpc environment itās a game changer for me.
Iām very happy this morning and I have this lovely feeling that I have an incredible instrument to use with and teach my son.
He keeps asking where all the other bits and bobs are, that come and go. This oneās a keeper.
very cool post, gave me the warm fuzzys
stop that
Geez man, it literally gives you an option not to receive that message again.
Itās hilarious how much this forum nitpicks anything about MPC.
Read my post about the error message
@MPC you too. There is a reason that. That should no appear for something that wonāt be installed.
Thatās not nitpicking.
Never even saw the new plugins that I didnt install on my MPC.
I only see OPx-4 and thats cause I am trialing it.
No, itās not nitpicking. Itās whining. In all of your posts, all you seem to do is whine. Itās tiresome.
Donāt feel bad, itās not just MPC!
Well, There is a positive bias towards Elektron devices (I wonder why)
