MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 2)

OPX-4 sounds very promising. Anyone run into a decent video of it yet?
I saw the AKAI one and the 40 secs or so in the loopop video of the keys but they don’t show it off at all.

In 2.10 looper phrases couldn’t be saved to WAV without being added to a pad first, otherwise the MPC would hang and never complete the save action. Can anyone confirm that this has been fixed? Is it possible save loops from the looper directly to WAV now without extra steps?

I tested it.

Legit amazing.

So so so so many settings to play with.

I am. I used to be supportive of MPC. But their website is ass, and this update is kind of a cheap shot at trying to get you to buy the new plugs.

But I DID preface by saying I was moving from the supportive side to the whiner side because of this update. So you WERE forewarned

I don’t disagree…I’m whining HARD, cuz this update was sloppy as fuck.

And even with the whining…I have yet to get an answer about the update for the computer software used in controller mode.

In the update doc it says there is a 2.11 software update as well as the firmware update. Yet that software update is nowhere to be found.

Cool it fellas, no need to turn this into a name-calling contest, further discussing who’s a whiner and who isn’t a whiner is just gonna bore the tits off everyone.

We’re all here to voice and hear opinions… if you don’t like someone’s take, the ultimate step is to mute them. It’s fine, that’s what that function is for.

Personally, I can understand why people would have varied opinions on Akai and the MPC in the last 48 hours, and I don’t mind reading them.

Let’s be mates. Or mute. :v:

No…I’m whining man  it’s cool. He’s right.
But it’s with reason.

Generally I do not, but this one warrants it.

Updated just like the last one.

Install update, create synth folders if you wish to try synth. activate synth via net/pc.

Running 2.11 on both my PC and MPC.

Yet another super smooth free update from MPC.

I appreciate the critical takes — I really dislike it when there’s only positive stuff, for one because it seems unbalanced and also because people google this forum for buying advice and it’s so much more helpful when there are more than one perspective on a tool represented. So I actually appreciate “the whining” and I own an MPC Live and an MPC X.

Personally I don‘t have a strong opinion on this release, but that’s partially because I’m baseline cautious with Akai always (anyone who owned an MPC Ren and had to pay extra to get the features with MPC2.0 that were advertised since day 1 with the Ren will know what I mean). The support of the current MPC line has been really good and not at all Akai like, props there, this one is more in line with company policy as I used to know it.

That said, some of the sampler instruments seem like a good fit for this line, just the price point makes it unattractive for me (as others said: there are much better plugins out for less).

I think the solution would be to just add/have versions of the install. It’s like a constant kick in the nuts when I see the CV option in my menus, when it’s not even an option on my box.

They do ask you what box you are dl-ing the update for. Why not disable unusable features in the install for boxes that don’t benefit from it. Like these new synths. They aren’t part of the install, but there’s shit in the code looking for them.

Link me to the software update.
There isn’t even a way to do it from the software which is kinda weird.

I’m in the same boat with @phaelam.

Not the whining boat but the one that couldn’t find the update for the desktop software. I love my MPC Live II to pieces but their website sure could use some consistency.

That grated on me when I had a live mk1. Ridiculous half ass imo. Can’t have a CV icon on a box without CV

@Dstepatl gear forums are made for moaning. that and shitposting. They’re not for making music that’s for certain

Don’t get me wrong. LOVE the MPC. It’s solid AF. The website is the main issue, the errors are an annoyance.

BUT I think I miss the days of when you bought a box and that’s what you got. Not this open slate with update upon update.

I DO really appreciate the updates. I’m sure we all do. But it’s like the companies with the update philosophy have sold/built themselves into a corner. And since they can’t release new products with new features….than now can be downloaded. They have to find other ways to generate rev.

It just opens up for situations like this. Had the box been the box and that is what you got no one can complain about what they did and didn’t get with the malleable product. If the public feels like they can steer the direction of the product they bought post purchase, you get these wacky “feature request” threads/debates.

Again…very happy with the update. Thank you AKAI. But disappoint as usual with how they distribute it.

It’s weird…I don’t see that. Or I wouldn’t have said anything if I did. I am able to read…I think

FYI there is already a 2.11.2 version of the OS. So yall need to update your MPCs again.

But mine says 2.10

Logic prompts when there’s and update. Even my MOTU throws up a prompt when there an update. Or you can check for update/update from the prefs.

DTSW would benefit from something like that.

NI does it….
Apple does it…

Damn…I just slid into feature request :man_facepalming:t5:
Pathetic.

Better stick to golf. Updates unnecessary.
